Shouldn't ALL marketing be directed at people with the ability to buy the product you're selling?

If the youths really have such a short attention span, then today's marketing at them won't be worth anything by the time they're ready to buy new cars.

It could actually work against Toyota. If the kiddies today think that Scion is cool with the 20-somethings of today, they will want their own cool brand when the time comes. Scion will be 'old' to them by then, if their attention span is really that short.

I have never seen a Xb in the wild. In fact other than a hand full of Tcs I have come across I really haven't seen any Scions around here. That is probably very different in the Toronto area but around here Scion may as well not exist. The London dealer keeps one in the showroom and only one or two of each in stock (including the FRS now). It is pretty much just a matter of having them because they were told too not because they want too I am sure.

Sales were actually growing still when they replaced that with the 2nd gen which was MUCH heavier (~800 pounds) and despite being larger somehow had less interior space. It basically became a small SUV but without available awd. It's peak sales were less than the last year of the Gen I and those numbers shrank every year after.

Lexus,Nissan, etc commercial have appeal to them. They market their car as sporty, luxury and fun to drive which appeals to a larger audience.
