The fact that they sent you a letter from ARB to validate what they want to do says it all.. and yet you trusted a bunch of 3rd party strangers for info.

I've never done any research on ARB prior to this, so I honestly wasn't familiar with what to believe and what not to believe. It seemed a bit too good to be true which is the reason I thought I'd ask on here in case it was either false or if there was a catch (other than keeping my car for a month).

I realize I don't know anyone on these forums in person, but I'd hope that this community is nice enough to look out for each other and not let someone mess with my 86 and tell me something isn't right because of either some past research they have done or personal experience. Names are good and help in verifying, but it's a letter... as formal as it seems, it can be fabbed up easier than spam emails, and considering I had nothing to do with this company prior to receiving the letter and it was sent to me at random, yeah, I doubted what I was looking at for quite some time and wasn't about to lend my car out for a month to someone who could possibly be doing drifts in the parking lot for a month or worse, steal my car entirely

I took the extra step to actually go to the company, a 45-minute drive one-way, to make sure not just for myself, but for everyone who considers this opportunity and throws the letter in the trash because they think it's a scam. I'm not saying that's what's happening, but considering I'm the only submission, maybe there is a chance that a few people are thinking the same way I was. Who knows

Sorry to rant, but I'm just stating that I did the research, I just didn't know whether to believe it or not. I'm a college student, so $3000 for doing nothing different than what I am doing now, just with a different car for 30 days... call me desperate, but I think it may be a good deal since that's $100/day extra for essentially doing nothing. You can't blame me for thinking that's a "too-good-to-be-true" sized chunk of money, especially when I work at Best Buy and have an apartment to maintain

I can dig that. I just don't want to get stuck with a Corolla or Camry

Yeah, I wouldn't do it either if I was already modded, but since I don't have to undo anything to my car at this point, I'd pretty much be getting free money over the course of a month the hardest part being handing over the keys

i got the same letter and was thinking the same thing, wanted to check up on it. feels weird but for 3 grand i think i would do it, its a bit too late now since i already have my tein flex Z and 17x9 ENKEI RPF1 SBC on there. would probably cost 500 bucks to uninstall and then 500 bucks again to reinstall everything.

I don't think they care too much about suspension as long as you can get into their dynos and stuff safely, but I think they do require stock wheels and tires. Pretty much anything that can affect the MPG or performance mechanically, they want stock as far as I understand. I could be wrong, though. Always worth a shot to ask. The worst they can tell you is no

Just a follow up on this...

This place is, in fact, legit! I, unfortunately did not get chosen for the program in which they give me $3k and borrow my car for a month, but there was another program in which they are working with Perrin to make the newest Perrin Cold Air Intake CARB legal and they offered me a cash incentive for borrowing my car for a week (which actually ended up taking a much longer than expected due to mechanical failures on their testing equipment). They lent me a rental (I chose the Dodge Challenger from a choice of a Challenger, Camaro, or Mustang, all 2015's) for the time they had my car and, after a long wait, I got my BRZ back with a brand new Perrin intake installed It feels amazing!!! I know it's not much of a power increase (claimed 3-5whp), but the butt dyno definitely feels the difference as it is much more "peppy" and it's also louder, too, with a deeper note like a growl... very nice

There are more details to the experience, but the main point I want to get across is that ATDS is legit and they are very nice people to work with and I got a chance to meet and talk with Lin Farmer, the president (I think that was his title... If you are reading this Mr. Farmer, sorry if I got that wrong!), and I was always speaking with Patty and she really helps me understand how everything is going and what to expect. Overall, even though there were some unexpected delays, it was a good deal and definitely not something I should have been skeptical about. They are very knowledgeable people and have been in this business for many decades with various companies including Perrin and K&N. Even though I am not a fan of letting my car go for days on end, I would definitely do business with ATDS again as it was a pleasure to work with them.

@Moooiiissst

Thanks for your service, looks like the regular Perrin CAI is now CARB legal!
