Hahaha! We call them milk trucks! BTW Scion no longer is manufacturing XB's. Too bad because I heard the first generation XB's are popular.

Welcome to the forum Hot-Lava_Dave!
That's a long wait but it'll be worth it! I waited a week before I could pick up my car from the dealership. I'm sure Tcoat is happy cause there's another HOT LAVA!

Hahaha, when I first drove the FR-S I felt exactly the same way. Still can't explain it, but I still feel it when I drive.

Congrats on the new car.

I love talking about myself so here goes...

I am an avid car enthusiast so I had plenty of Car and Driver or Motortrend magazines laying about as a young teenager. I was also a huge fan of Anime and Manga and loved the manga Initial D. One day I read about a possible successor to the AE86. I got super excited and kept up with the following stories of a partnership that Toyota and Subaru were possibly putting together. Life started happening fast so I moved around a lot and totally forgot about the car.

Then I bought the game Gran Turismo 5 and unlocked a car named the Toyota FT86 concept. I had no idea what it was but I loved the way it looked and drove in game. I asked a friend of mine what the hell it was and he explained to me it was the successor to the AE86. Then I asked if it was the one that was a being made by Toyota and Subaru. He confirmed it was and so I kept up with the developing information on the car for about a year.

Then that's when the YouTube videos started coming out about how great the car was. I then joined this forum and lived vicariously through all of you guys for a couple years. I took my wife to the local Toyota dealership to check one out and we drove it but sadly it was an automatic. Trust me, we drove it anyway. Coming from an EK Honda Civic my wife said the car was too 'Bumpy' as in the suspension was too stiff. I laughed and said I liked it because it made her 'Bewbs Jiggle.'

I also heard about all the little things that people were having issues with so I elected to stay away from the 2013's just for safe measure. Didn't want to deal with CEL's and leaky tail lights so I opted to wait for the 2014's. My EK Honda Civic eventually ended up getting stolen and I needed a car right away. I had to convince my wife that if I were going to pay for a car I'd want it to be a car that I truly desired. We went to the local Toyota Dealership and found my Argento hanging out on the lot. I told her I wanted it and we signed the papers and drove it off the lot that day.

All in all I'd say I've waited over 3 years to get my 'Hachi.' I swear, I had day dreams of owning this car. Even though I've owned a lot of cars in my past this one is the most special to me. Sure, every one of them I've loved (except for that 2003 Eclipse GTS, smh) this one feels like it was made just for me.

Other than some chassis and supercharged bits I'm going to be leaving her mostly alone and keep her in the stable for the long haul.

Not rare, per say. Just not enough ordered by dealers, I suppose? Guess black, white, and silver are more sought after colors? Simply speculating though..

There were 6 lavas that I found before buying mine compared to 2 ultramarines (which is what I was going to get initially until the 1st dealership pissed me off).

With that being said, I rarely see lavas on the road - only 1 in 4 months of ownership.

Hahaha! I just saw one in my neighborhood where I work. The dude who owns it parks it on the street. Brave dude because I wouldn't park it on the street where I work. Too many cars get broken into during the daytime!

Way back there was a breakdown of the colours produced and it showed Lava as only 5% of the production. Don't know how official it was but the number would appear to be correct from the evidence at hand.

I always referred to my cousin's XB as her Xbox. She didn't care for the nickname, but the rest of the family liked it so it stuck!

First mod? A good set of snow tires, cause if Michigan's winter is anything like last years, it's going to be interesting!

I would recommend that you also plan on some sort of mud flaps to protect the sides of the car. The Canadian ones come with the stock ones as standard equipment and they seem to make a huge difference. If not too late you can try to build them into the deal.

Mudflaps do sound like a good idea. Those stock ones don't stick out too much, which I appreciate. I'll have to call the dealership, they are installing the parts there before I take delivery so shouldn't be too hard to add to the list!

They are pretty unobtrusive really and I think they make a huge difference when you go to the snows which tend to throw more crap up then the stock tires.

Definitely, and at around $100 the price is right. You need to get into contact with Toyota, they should be paying you commission!

Just spent 45 minutes with a Windsor cop (wave from across the river) that pulled up beside me in a parking lot and am pretty sure he is headed to my dealer to buy one. He said he had never run across one before and that it was the most beautiful car he had ever seen.
Soooo....ya I want on the payroll now.
