If only it was so easy for me to find that specific heim joint or flexible coupling I needed.

wow, talk about complete and total derailment. Not sure anything this bad has happened since one of disney's monorails crashed while trying to back into an already occupied bay. Talk about an accident. And the best part is the manager and his assistant were at IHOP eating breakfast, and still had the audacity to have the radio with them and tell the driver everything was clear.

OK, back on topic. The one in the 86 is infinitely better than the piece of junk that came in my son's 1998 Volvo C70 (pictured below). Notice the "lip" on the top that goes into a loop underneath the car to jack it up. I assume for safety except no one knows what it is and it ends up getting flattened when you use the jack "normally", or at least that's what happened with my son's discovered when he needed to use it.

Also the lug wrench was so weak that it actually bent straight when trying to remove the lug nuts.

The one that came with my wife's Golf Wagon was much like the one on the Volvo. Made me nervous every time I used it. But the sketchiest jack I ever tried was the one from the Fiat X1/9. You stick the bar into a hole in the rocker panel and jack up the whole side of the car. The sketchy part was that 70's Fiat rocker panels were made of some sort of paint-rust composite with the strength of a wet cardboard box.

My Alfa Romeo GTV6 Balocco SE had that kind of jack. The car was all aluminum and weighed very little, jack worked great. It was unnerving at first though I must admit, but it would raise that car very high.

Looks similar to the original VW method. Went looking for a photo and came across this gem.

The first thing I do when I buy a new car is throw the jack away that came with it. Weight savings and life savings.

That works great if you don't mind hanging around waiting for an hour or more. I can change a tire myself quicker than it takes to get through the calling tree on most of these services.

I do have it through my insurance company for tows and such though.

I'm sick of your Canadian attitude. Washington is close to Canada, see. It's rubbed off on you. So go get on your moose phone or whatever you Mounties use and maple leaf your way home.

Yes, I used maple leaf as a verb. Screw all y'all! 'Murica.
