I'd push the issue. That's not honoring the warranty as written.

Mine feels great at 20K miles. Has never felt so good! I'll let you all know if things get worse, but I HIGHLY doubt they will...

At about how many miles would you say it was at its best?

20,000 at it's best.
Started to have issues around 25,000 and replaced soon thereafter.

No, the dealer determined the springs in the clutch plate were all loose. Likely damaged when they replaced the transmission.

At 24k miles and no issues. The transmission is clunky naturally. A little bit a heavier shift knob helps though IMHO.

Had same issue as OP with a '13 FR-S at 21000 miles, same two gears and all. Changed diff and trans fluid after 2nd week of ownership and 9500miles. Went by the dealer to talk about warranty and as I was waiting to talk to a rep a RS 1.0 was being delivered and of course I inquired and figured out the prior owners deal fell through and only putting 200 miles on the car. Long story short, now I'm driving an oversized banana, no tranny issues and loving it. I've had 07,08, 2x'12, and a 2015 WRX in the past 6yrs. I like to drive more than I like to go fast so I would still choose an FR-S or BRZ over an WRX. If you do get an WRX, I think the 15 handles pretty damn good compared to older models but like everything that's a matter of opinion.
