When the gear grinds you need a new transmission fluid! And since you are going to chabe the tranny fluid change the differential fluid too!

New manual driver. Lots of crunched gears and a year and a half later...

OP Take it to the dealer. Or A mechanic. Or a Transmission specialist.
Do Something.

Make sure you have the right fluid in the Trans it takes 75w, not 75w90 or 80w90

Ya the repair manual is wrong, I'm a tech for Toyota and that's what I was going to put in when they stopped me and handed me Toyota's special 75w

Please post the reference you have that supersedes the one I posted.

"They" can sound awfully convincing but that doesn't mean they are correct.

Sorry don't have any just telling you what Toyota technical assistance told me and had me do. Only thing I can tell you is to go straight to a dealer and ask the parts department, we deal with it all the time

Here you will find endless debate over pretty much everything including lubricants. As an insider, should you stumble across any updated factory infonuggets, please do share.

Welcome to the forum.

Yup will do my best to share and help out, but Ya if it makes anything other than a small clunk type noise when engaging gears you probably need a new one

Take it to dealership if under warranty they most likely will replace it. Mine got replaced at 30000 miles
