Subiefest AutoX Disaster

I'll just bullet list the good and bad of this event, if you really wan't to know more, ask! I could not recommend going to this event in the future.

The Good!
• Quite a few friendly people showed up to attend, from experienced to first timers

• The course was fun

The Bad...
• Incredibly disorganized.

• They promised staff to run the event, but clearly there wasn't enough.

• Staff that was present was quite condescending and consistently talked down upon those attending. ( Newcomers were made fun of for missing sections or becoming confused while on course )

• Timing equipment problems multiple times during the day

• Website promised prizes for top times. When asking staff about what's clearly written on the subiefest autox page ( many people asked ), attendees were laughed at and told, " not a chance ".

• Website promised different classes. No tech inspection was even attempted. Everyone was lumped into 1 big class.

This event was proposed on their website to be an actual competition, while offering friendliness toward newer drivers. Neither was achieved in my view.

Do you know if the track session was organized any better? It seems like when autox days are mixed with track days, the autox always gets the short end of the stick.

the whole event was poorly executed this year IMO. although the actual event was nice with the vendors and the activities, but the staff were short handed and unprepared. hopefully they get the feedback from their facebook page (a lot of people were complaining) and on the multiple forums that the organizers are active on to improve next year. and they need to pick a better date that's cooler! haha

What a bummer about the auto X...looked like a lot of fun but I guess I didn't really see or hear what was really happening, track event seemed to be running smoothly though.

Ya, it was horrible... Last year was fantastic in comparison. This year its like nobody gave a crap, and certainly nobody was prepared. I got there and it was just Omar at the table, no timing truck, no numbered parking spots, hell it was super difficult just to get there. And the check in was down at the track booths, WTH!!!

I certainly won't be autocrossing there again next year, unless its an SCCA event or run by a proper Autocrossing organization. This was just stupid.

The good news is that it was so poorly ran it gave me plenty of time to walk around the event, which I didn't get to do last year.

Honestly, people need to be refunded for this, because all that prize money for the trophies went up in smoke.

Yeah, pretty bad.
I posted on SubieFest's FB page how somebody stole my foglight bezel off my car while it was in the parking lot lol.

I thought about going next year just to do the track event, but the track layout looks lame as fuck, especially for the price, and I don't care to be around any of that crowd.

Seems like every year on here and other forums the reviews are always the same...yet people continue to go. If attendance drops then so will Vendors thus less revenue for these people that obviously don't give a damn about the community...

I won't be going next year unless its for the track day thats for sure.

BTW here is a vid of some of my autox runs:

EDIT: On the third run you can actually see someone randomly walking onto the course with a cellphone in hand!

I'm not too sure. It looked as though it was a regular group track day ( there were all kinds of different cars there ) that just happened to be on the same day as subiefest.

I'll definitely take the time to write to the organizers.
