BRZ Wheels and Tires
Ok...it looks like I am going to order my BRZ (either hyperblue or blue) today. If I want to modify the suspension and get new wheels and tires, what are your thoughts? These seem to be simple mods. I might have diff and tran fluids changed out, as well as upgrade air intake and upgrade exhaust.
For now, it looks like just suspension and wheels/tires. I am thinking the Forgestar CF5 Wheels (black). What size tires? 18x8? 18x9? Also, should I do these upgrades thru dealership or where? I have found a couple of Subaru mod shops in the DFW area and have actually visited one of them, but they were trying to pitch a turbo right off the bat. They also said they had mixed success with air intake mods/exhaust and that the HP actually DECREASED on a few of the BRZs with these "upgrades". Again, I am going to be happy with the engine for a while so at this point am just looking for better handling and F-U-N. And as superficial as it sounds, a deeper sound from the exhaust perhaps. I am not looking to be the fastest car. Just want something fun for me and my teenage boys (my boys will be learning stick on this car, but it will be dad's car!!!!!!!, lol). Thoughts? Fire away. I'm not buying a Mustang so no need to go there, lol. |

I look back almost every day and wish the money put into wheels and coilovers was saved for a turbo.. Except maybe on the occasional on/off highway ramp

Rays 57xtremes. I went with 18x8.5 square set up. I got the idea from @shiumai but he went with a staggered setup.
I bought mine from @Maximal for a real good deal. he doesn't have them listed on his site but he can get them among others. but the best part was that the supplier had them in stock and I had them in just a couple of days. GL |

this would answer your question about intake and exhaust. Not many people know about the ecu tune is actually required. Personally I used grimmspeed air intake and openflash tablet tune.

Just drive the stock car for several months before making the changes!

I would hold off on any mods. If your buying the car to teach your kids to drive, keep it stock till they been driving for more than a year. That way every thing is covered under your warranty.
Intake wise, any high flow drop in would be just as good. As for any mods, be sure to keep all the original parts.
