This should tell you a lot about how I feel about a FR-S minus the price factor. I track my car at least 5-10 times each summer and while the M3 is a beast, the handling is no comparison for a FR-S.
Yeah, but you're Canadian. What do you know, eh?

Lightness matters. This is why so many people track Miatas.

This comparison would make more sense if you are not going to mod the car at all... and if that's the case, you should go with a Camaro.

FR-S/BRZ aren't meant to be driven stock.

So why are you in a thread where the OP is asking about handling characteristics again? Just the regularly scheduled troll of circle-jerkers?

95% of satisfied twin owners must have missed that memo.

Whoosh.

Because I love listening to the professional opinions everyone on here has. I'm sorry, but unless you've personally driven the car(s) in question, you shouldn't be spurting off about "well, I want to have Chris Harris'/randy probst/whoever a babies and I'll listen to whatever they say about a car because that's easier than going out and doing my own research or test driving a car"

But I'll get out of here and go back to hard parking my FRS

95% of the owners are obviously ignorant about their cars then, read some interviews from Tada Tetsuya haha.

The designer and planner of the car himself has said: "We want you to play with the Hachiroku by modding it. The AE86 became a classic because of the abundance of great aftermarket parts created by tuners around the world. We disclosed the blueprint of the car to tuners so they can make good custom parts. What we focused on was the software and not the hardware."

Personally, i think it's a blasphemy to drive this car without modding it, the designer intentionally left a lot of room for improvements.

He said "want" not "have" to mod. The vast majority will be perfectly happy with it just the way it is. Not everybody that buys these are boy racers, hellaflush heros or rice raiders and the 95% left stock guess is probably pretty much on the mark. They are perfectly satisfied with their stock DD and wouldn't know a mod if it jumped out and bit them.

I don't know what you are trying to nit-pick at, but I said the cars were "meant" to be modded, not cars "have" to be modded.

If you are satisfied with this car in its stock state, then your expectations must've been pretty low from the start... and the designers/engineers of Toyota would agree with me. I drove a '08 Civic LX before I bought the BRZ and it was immediately obvious to me that well-thought out mods will make this car a lot better bang for the buck.

Ummm don't think I am nit-picking. Your statement was pretty clear.
Not disputing they can be made "better" but everybody's definition of what is "better" will vary. Some want more power, some want to drop it, some want to change the interior and some want to do it all.
I think the engineers were also very satisfied with the car in it's stock state or else they would not have released it. I don't think it was a "Meh good enough they change what they want" sort of situation. Yes indeed there are some things that can be changed (not sure they are all improvements) but that applies to every car ever made including '08 Civic LXs.
This is an enthusiast site and we see the extremes but for the "normal" person the car probably exceeds their expectations and they see no need to change that. Not all cars are bought by the Yea mod crowd and I don't see the need to look down upon those that are happy with it as is.

Yeah it definitely was. It's also even more clear that the car doesn't "have" to be modded to be drive-able, so I honestly don't know what you are trying to say.

Yes I do think the cars need to be modded to function as intended, which I don't think contradicts what Tada has said.

You should learn to read Japanese before you try to correct me. The engineers put most of their effort into R&D and the parts that can't be modded, and made commonly-modded parts cheap in order to keep the overall price down. On top of that and releasing the blueprint to tuners, Toyota is actively encouraging dealerships to be more accepting towards modifications.

Of course they won't say "don't buy this car if you are not gonna mod it," but I think their actions and the design concept speaks for itself.

Are you sure you are not just trying to justify yourself not modding the car? I've never bagged on people who didn't mod the car (hey if you are satisfied with cheap things, good for you for saving some money), but modding a car doesn't necessarily make you "boy racers, hellaflush heros or rice raiders" lol.

How was it "intended" to function? I get in drive through traffic and get out. Pretty sure that was the intention behind it.
Now, if you said it needs to be modded for what you want to do with it I am in full agreement.
