I'm with you on this. Not so much about being cheap but rather the fact that you essentially have to put half as much into the car as you paid for it to get any appreciable gains. That's helped me decide to put a stop to modding.

Since I haven't said, I am also in the $3K-$4K category:

1 set of winter wheels and tires
1 set of summer wheels and tires
Muffler delete
Sound tube delete using a Perrin intake tube
Performance filter
Minor aesthetics (side markers, antenna, shift knob)

Huh, dumping money into it now, headed towards $7k-$8k total on mawds (suspension, wheels and tires, maybe OFT/OFH), will probably stay around there, maybe odds and ends over the next few years, probably a $10k ceiling and then FI is on the table which will push me to about $15k when all's said and done.

Hmm, ~$28k purchase price, $15k in mawds... coulda bought a Porsche.

I cannot see myself being truely happy with this car without another 14-20k into it. Suspension, axles are on the to-do list before summer. There is also alot of little things I regret and want to redo but, will result in a nice $ loss. For instance I'm sick of my open dump wastegate. Another 2k to get the manifod/downpipe to correct my cheapness earlier on...

But, my happiness and projected spending comes from peace of mind of being able to beat the piss out of it, grinning ear to ear without worring about the rods snapping, heads lifting or the transmission grenading. But, ripping the engine out isn't wanteded this close to driving season if I don't have too.
