Pocket change compared to some, but around $1k. No performance mods yet, have just made a couple audio and cosmetic upgrades:

replaced the head unit, and added a sub.
tinted windows
clear-bra
high-mount 3rd brake light
going through and swapping various factory bulbs for LED's

Oh wait, I did grab a drop in K&N filter, does that count as my first performance mod?

Next thing on the list is probably going to be a set of Forgestar F14's (or something similar) and tires.

Now you mention it... Let's not count. cuz no big real preformance increase just handling mods/feel mod/sound/look. Probably 5k ish? (not counting labor/track)
*And I plan to put in 5k more... good thing is that I'm not selling the car.

Since my family is growing and my wife is stealing my forester forcing me to buy a grown up car....I did the math for how much money I could get for my parts on the used market here and on ebay. It was around $10,000. Thankfully, I bought most of my parts used or heavily discounted but even still. It was an eye popping exercise.

The good news is... I can just sell all the mods on my car and keep the car and buy a beater!!!

The bad news is... I have to sell all my mods. Back to stock? I don't know if I can do it.

I think the $$$ I spent can buy another FR-S.

I always afraid that if one day the car is totaled, the insurance company will pay me according to the KBB value.

You probably already know this, but you can work with your insurance company to establish an agreed-upon value. Your premiums will increase since the car will be valued higher, but if you total it, you'll get what you've got in it.

I was nearly at $20k (plus $28k for the car) when I decided this was madness. Sold everything and got a Porsche for under $40k. Should've just gotten springs, wheels/tires, exhaust, pads/lines/fluid, tune and done. Instead I went for a supercharger kit, fully custom interior, etc.

You could always buy back the car from insurance company for cheap and part it out.
