Gas Pedal Relocation Kit- Proof of Concept

We made a gas pedal relocation kit to try out. The stock gas pedal location leaves a little to be desired, so we machined this bad boy to try out an idea.

By moving the gas pedal less than an inch closer to the driver, the gas pedal is now slightly above the brake under heavy brake pressure. This forces you to raise your heel to reach the gas, which gives a much more stable toe position on the gas pedal. As I'm sure you guys are aware, it's easy to let your foot slip off the side of the brakes, and this gives a little more confidence in your stance on the brake pedal.

Here's pictures of it installed. It's 100% bolt-on, and can be installed in about 10 minutes.

Here's a picture of it off the car, along with an extended pedal stop made from acetal.

This is a render of the production version with rounded corners and pockets:

I'd be really into this! The first thing i noticed about the pedals in the BRZ is that i could never heel-toe like i could in my MINI. Does the pedal in this position affect the feel when cruising with one's heel on the floor in an appreciable way?

We haven't driven it on track yet, but we don't expect it to change the feel much. It's definitely different, but it seems like something you'd get used to quickly, just like different pedal positions in different cars.

I find that with the stock pedal placement the gas is already in a good place, that's with stainless lines, MC brace and non stock (less compressible) pads. It would be interesting to try with it further out just for comparison though.

I'm pretty sure both the brake and clutch pedal are height adjustable...

Put me on the list. There have been a few times where my foot slipped off the brake pedal or when I went to blip the throttle only to hit air.

Correct, but by my measurement the brake light switch is activated at a little over 1/2" of brake pedal travel. (Measured with a dial indicator on the pedal pad.) I don't think you'd be able to adjust the brake pedal to the point where you get the same geometry we settled on, especially considering we moved the pedal laterally as well.

Waiting on one last quote to come back, then I'll post a group buy thread with pricing.

I have to say that the Cusco pedal plate did also work quite well for me. Same end result, but cheap way to go.

I am not sure if raising the pedal would also be a good addition. But considering PST strong research background I am open to the idea
