Just gave up my WRB Limited 6MT 3/14 (7 of 16)preorder in Chicago
I found a GBS in Orangeburg, NY available so I flew out yesterday and drove it back. Now my WRB pre-order in Evanston should be available for others now. FWIW, for the car I just bought, the sales team at Bill Kolb Jr. Subaru in Orangeburg were great. No pressure, only 7 miles on the clock, MSRP, they handled all the titling for Illinois and my salesman Chris Bradish even personally picked me up at the airport. I was surprised to see 2 other BRZs on the lot. For some reason, the East coast received a massive shipment of cars in the last couple of weeks. After checking the entire Midwest and East coast, I decided on NJ or NY as they were able to provide a temporary tag so I could drive the car back. 14 hours of night driving later and I have the new car safe in my garage and very nearly broken in with 840 miles (it was surprisingly difficult to keep varying the rpm throughout the long drive). Following is a link to Flicker showing a couple of pics of the new car taken right after pulling into my driveway after the long drive.

nice! congrats on getting one!
this is the exact trim I ordered, but I have no information (since April 9). I live in Iowa but I actually bought my previous car on a road trip to Chicago as well, so this would actually be really cool to get... but do you have any information on the one in Chicago? ETA? also, I see you drive (drove?) an MR2...my first car was a 1985 MR2 that my dad got brand new. Niftyyy |

ya I kinda thought selecting the most popular combination of pre orders (at least on this website), i thought it would mean Subaru would make a bunch of them and I could get mine, i dont know, this summer! As far as I can tell that was just wishful thinking! I chose the combo because I like it the most, by the way-- not cause I thought it would actually get me a car sooner.

Sorry, no word on ETA for the Chicago order. Believe me, I was calling SOA weekly but it was still wait listed as of Friday. I added the Homelink mirror to the build but that was it.
Our experience on the MR2 is similar. My parents purchased one in early '85 and I inherited it in '88. I drove it for 8 years and eventually gave it back to my dad. He was too old to drive it so he let it go 8 years ago for nothing. My desire to purchase the BRZ was kicked off by my discovering and purchasing a mint, no-rust '85 MR2 off of craigslist here in Chicago. I couldn't believe I had forgotten how much fun a lightweight, low-powered, sporty car could be. This after owning a string of fancy hardware. The MR2 will always be in my stable as a sunny day cruiser. The BRZ will be the new daily driver replacing a Honda Pilot (I know, not quite the same utility). Luckily my wife drives a CRV so it can fill in as needed for hauling gear/kids/dogs. Best of luck in your BRZ search. I have to say that I'm loving it more each time I drive it. |

It hasn't started in a couple years. The engine is still good we are pretty sure, but might need new gas or something. Who knows. Anyway, it got pretty much killed when I owned it when I parked it on a curb and it was a victim of a hit and run... So with this BRZ..I assume you cancelled the order -- so does that mean that dealer will no longer get it? And even if they do, I'm doubting you'd get updates on ETA anyway...so looks like I'll probably just check cars.com every once in a while... or, I know it's a long shot, but maybe, just maybe, I'll own the BRZ i ordered before the world ends |
