I believe disabling codes can generate a non-ready state. At least, that's what I recall reading about in my RomRaider research back in the day.

Here in NC we have dropped the sniffer test, we are now all obdII port inspection. So codes are a no-no. Also you are correct, clearing a code will leave a non-readiness state and you will fail inspection. On my last car (a built 420whp jetta) i had no cats or anything but with the tune is was coded into the ecu that it wouldnt set off a check engine light for 02, I did however have another one that came from the car being swapped from an auto to manual. But it was also coded for always ready in the ecu so I could even pass inspection right after clearing.

I believe most inspections will end up going towards this. So until another more complicated (then obdII) system comes along there will always be a way around it.

It's 5 or 6 years here in CA. Hard to remember, as it's been a while since my last 2 cars never got that old. If the car gets sold, you have to get it tested regardless.

This also may be changing in 2013, I really haven't read all the details so I'm not sure.

Looks like only Twin stuff is they have a bunch of muffler-deletes stocked now. I threw a comment mentioning the headers and that people here are still curious.

They look busy, though. SEMA, working with another rally team, etc...

Jason just commented on Facebook that they are working on 4th and 5th header designs with Mike Kojima/MotoIQ.

Somethings telling me they're having trouble finding significant gains over the stock piece. And that isn't meant to say the Nameless crew are doing a bad job, quite the opposite, I think the stock header is very well made.

The issue I'm seeing with most header dev, is stock fitment is taking the priority rather than what is best for power. I don't think that will cut it because, as you say, stock is very good. Shows up with the intakes, too. Stock also seems to be a very integrated system.

Outside-the-box thinking may be in order.

This times a bazillion. I still don't know which way I'm going, NA, turbo, or SC, but I could read their development threads like a magazine. It's like watching a character in a good movie or book, I just want these guys to do well.

Keep in mind they also do turbo stuff for STIs.

SC and NA will require slightly different headers, but SC should be less 'sensitive' to the finer tuning details, and just going a size up on the tubing will probably work fine (not saying it will be best, just that throwing too-big NA headers on a SC will see gains over stock).

Agreed. AT the moment that's the way I'm leaning, SC and some exhaust mods. Simpler, smoother power band, and more reliable then a turbo. And it should net me the power that I'm looking for. And it would have the potential to sound amazing.
