The FT86 header removed the tq dip, and provided 14hp and 5tq without a tune, in a completely stock car.
I would take that with a grain of salt.... That's one dyno, non third party. Nothing against them and their header, but a stock tune running a header is leaving a lot on the table and removing a torque dip without tuning is unheard of.

I know, but its still impressive, if it turns out to be repeatable with a third party dyno, and for someone who wants to avoid voiding the warranty, I'd get the header with the best gains without a tune.

Replacing the header will result in a voided warranty claim regardless of tune and you'd probably do more damage without a tune anyway - assuming your pro-tune is good and not rubbish.

Only if they find out I replaced the header or if they can prove the header caused the damage

They don't need to prove the header caused the damage if the header is not stock - re-read Magnusson-Moss. Taking the header off to make a warranty claim while "smart" is fraudulent and a shitty-person thing to do.

I'll be a shitty person, but after the way I was treated when I had my mustang (completely stock) and went for warranty claims, stealerships deserve it.

that is crap, according to Magnuson Morrison the burden of proof lies in the manufacturer to prove any aftermarket parts it cause failure.

what dealers in auto companies rely on is the fact that legal claims generally cost more than us paying out of pocket to fix the parts.

After all this r&d and time there have to be dynos. Anyone who thinks that hasn't been done yet is mildly retarded

So let's see them

Thanks.

I'm not saying if your clutch goes out that it'll be denied because you have an aftermarket header - though it would be reasonable for them to claim the increased power caused the clutch to wear prematurely. I'm saying if you go in for an engine failure and you have an aftermarket header, they're gonna look at you sideways and probably deny it. Doubt a higher up in the SOA chain (regional rep for instance) will disagree.

But until they can prove the header was the cause, they can't deny it. There's been quite a few engine failures due to the DI seals, and the ECU issue, although SoA has a habit of denying warranty just because you shifted close to redline and the car isn't "designed" for that.
