We have found that on track in race conditions if you are using a BBK up front you need to use a lesser pad in the rear to prevent the rear from stepping out during hard braking. This was very apparent during our practice and qualifying at LRP. We were running race pads in the front and rear of our Spec86 Cup car and needed to back down the rears to a hawk HP+ where we have now settled in nicely for the rest of the season. This is consistent with what we've seen other teams doing as well on these cars with BBK up front and stock rears. We haven't seen the issue with streetable pads up front and in the rear but if you are racing you definitely want race pads up front to allow you to really outbrake folks into the turns especially given the lack of grunt out of the corners on these cars.

Are you guys testing with or without the pedal dance?

Actually three of the cars we do testing on are running Hydra's so pedal dance is not required. The rest of our experience is coming from customer cars with stock ECU's. I will also say that our best selling "package" is the Stage II + rear upgrade because it is the most balanced solution, and allows our customers to start out with economical solid front rotor setup, and then upgrade to floating disks as the funds allow. Using same pad on our front + rear's results in a very balanced setup with no trail braking issues.

We are getting a shipment of Winmax pads in and we will be testing W4's with our front BBK with W4 & W5 compounds on OEM rears. I have a feeling this will be a good combo for those wanting to stay with OEM rears.

@Rafi@RR-racing would be interested in your thoughts on DS2500s front and rear for DD (Swapping to BP-20s and Hawks as supplied to me for track).

Ouch, somehow had missed this. I wonder if this may be the reason for someone to change balance back for cars, which aero elements and suspension tuning is closer to stock balance, hence need of less friction pads on back to keep rear stable.
Not sure though if this is regarding all RR BBKs or only for some specific kit changed by Element Tuning different balance.

Haven't done another set with 17x9's, but I did just do a stage 2 setup on a car with 17x8 Formula HLT OZ racing wheels. I had to use a 5mm spacer. It has more to do with spoke design then all out wheel width.

I can confirm (and in fact did several posts ago) that RPF-1 17x9 +35 work with the Stage I fronts.

I can also confirm that the template says this will not work with Stage II.

Actually BP20's are great for the street. I really love this pad because it is very versatile, and unbeatable value for the money.

Thought you all would enjoy this, Phil at the wheel of the Element Tuning TA FRS @ VIR running our Stage 4 fronts and Stage 2 rears. Based on our testing and development program w/ Element Tuning, we feel that a rear upgrade is essential for any BRZ/FRS running an appreciable amount of rear downforce.

Sorry for th slight thread jack...but,

Nice! I would love to pick up a set in the near future. Happy to see they clear.

Any plans for EC7's in 5x100? Or maybe more offsets(+35 would be awesome)

Loved my Apex's on my s52 e30

I can also confirm that the Stage IV front bbk will fit behind a 17x9 WedSport Tc105n. Offset is +35. I also can confirm fitment on Enkei RP03 17x9.5 +35. Both of these had a lot of room, so I imagine a lot of wheels 17x9 will fit. I am just buttoning up a few things on my install of the Stage IV front and rear stage 1 kit. So far I am very impressed. I will have updates soon as well as feedback after my next track event in September.

Surprisingly, wider calipers can get hung up on even a few popular designs. I always encourage people to check a template. RR Racings template was clear and easy to use. Seems like a good number of people running our wheels are interested in an RR Racing kit.

To contribute something valuable here, lol at a previous position at another company we made BBKs using the Coleman Rotors too; they were really low cost for their long life and performance. BBKs with low cost to maintain are great
