I know for fact, seen it, you can run the car without the oem cluster
But no idea how much electrical work or tuning may be needed
I will soon try to unplug my cluster to see because I really want to substitute an aim mxg in place of it

Great, thank you for correcting me. I wasn't sure about that, but I thought I remembered something weird happening. Oh well.

Oh, by the way. I was talking to a customer today with a Ferrari 430 Challenge car about the dash in his car. It's a color screen similar to the MXG, so I asked him if he had viewing problems in direct sunlight. He said "absolutely." So take that for what it's worth, I'd make sure your MXG is well shielded from direct sunlight.

If you're interested in a bracket like we've got, we're planning on selling them in the future.
It looks better with one cluster, in my lotus it was easy to hook, cam high, cam low, and your go to go... It wouldn't start with out the stock cluster that's wired

After looking at an open OEM clusters (photo below), it looks quite thin out of its container, so I am thinking a way around may be to simply keep the cluster plugged but tucked away behind the dash... Ok no weight saving but at least things are a little from the outside.

This very well be the solution I saw in the FRS race car which had XML instead of the OEM cluster.

Another take from the photo is that all cluster lights are led, possibly some wire could be soldered to the cluster and led mounted in a remote location like the center console.

A lot of work to have things looking more integrated but ... I really like things to look integrated.

Yeah, as mentioned above I was wrong about that. I thought I remembered some issues, but I don't think that's true.

I'm not sure what you mean. I was saying the MXG might have viewing issues in direct sun, not the MXL2. That's part of why we got the MXL2.

That's my plan moving forward, or at least something like it. Whenever we get to doing the cage, safety systems, etc. and going full racecar, the OEM dash is outta there!
