Wow, I'd probably find a new mechanic!

The mechanic's insurance should be covering this

Best of luck to you OP! Time for upgrades

Hoping it's more carbon build up from smoldering than remnants of fire! Good luck OP!

That sucks, at least (hopefully) you have insurance coverage for that. Or the mechanics insurance will cover it. Worst case though, totaled. But then new car.

Glad you are OK OP, and damage may not be that bad. Hopefully quick fixes, paid for completely by the mechanic. Everyone makes mistakes, so I am glad you aren't totally bashing this guy before he has a chance to make it right. However, if he's a d*ck about it, make sure he knows that his reputation will be trashed when you are done with him.

In my experience (a friends car caught on fire), any kind of fire damage is irreversible and = write off

I'm surprisingly nonchalant about all of this happening..

Bright side I get a new hood, headlights, and front bumper. My front bumper has so much damage haha.
Sort of a blessing in disguise.
They're also gonna fix some paint damage for me for free.

Took it to the shop today and the damage doesn't look too bad. We don't think any internals caught on fire. The firemen got to it before other stuff could catch on fire. Basically it was just the rags caught onto the exhaust and started smoking inside the car. We'll see though when they lift the engine to check everything.

Thanks for the concern guys!

Man that's awful. You are taking it very well, hell I'd be pretty furious, but it is absolutely time to find a new shop, that's not cool.

I don't know, looking closely under extreme magnification it seems your Cosworth Supercharger completely burned up in the fire and the connections "self healed" to where you can't tell. You might want to make sure they are aware and "replace" that for you.

Anybody else see that missing?

Seriously though @Joshwahhhs it sounds like they are going to take care of you, which is great news. One day it will be just a good story to tell.
