But this comparison doesn't work. When a person jumps ship and hops from one clan to the other, they're directly or indirectly competing against the clan they just left. It's a zero sum situation. However, the OFT guys in this case still continue to provide services for the platforms they've put on the backburner. The argument can be made the new platforms they're working with directly compete against, say, ours in terms of allocated resources. But it doesn't seem to fit with me, as clan hopping is an outright sign of a disloyal or dissassociated member. These guys just know this is a business, and their product is NOT to tune just our cars, or a specific set of cars, but to provide tuning solutions period. full stop. -- I hold my reservations with Shiv and others, though, since their communication has been less than ideal on some pretty pressing issues. Others, Shiv himself has helped me out. This is all with me not giving them a single dime- I bought both my OFT and my OFH used. To me, that's good customer service in my anecdotal situation. However, in the aggregate, in this day and age, people take notice if you're off kilter on even some classically considered mundane service aspects, such as visibility and post-count. |

What if you bought your car, then it blew up right after you drove it off the lot and the dealership said "sorry, we can't help you"? |

If you don't want a custom tune it's hard to beat the canned tunes available with the OFT. I plan on installing the OFH and running the free 91/93/E85 maps. Good bang for the buck and didn't require communication with the vendor.
If I was going to put a full exhaust or intake I would definitely go Ecutek and custom tune intead.

this makes 0 sense, you don't tune for the exhaust portion, you tune for the header that is installed.

You don't need to, but you are probably missing out on some power using a canned OFT OFH tune while also running full exhaust and an intake.

Nobody would argue one leaves "some power on the table" when they use an off the shelf tune and headers only. The real question RP is trying to get you to ask yourself is, "at what cost do I pursue maxing?" What if I told you that using Excel, RomRaider, and imagination, one can customize the OTS tunes to fit their setup? |

I could attempt to quantify this but I think it's safe to say the answer varies as wildly as the people within this community. It boils down to whether one is interested enough, has the ability and capacity to learn the concepts and skills needed, and the drive (no pun intended.. or maybe it was
) to enact these lessons and research to realize a favorable end result. Not even taking into consideration a person's valuation of time, I would venture that people gain a whole lot more than just the self-satisfaction of saying, "yea, I tuned this bitch so she won't knock on 91water and lessened the cold start noise level to save my car from being lynch-mobbed in the streets by my neighbors". From my experience, it has been very rewarding. From tuning my first platform, an EJ205, with romraider and the help of the nastysock community to now tackling the D4S system and a N/A approach, I've learned much more than I could explain here by doing so I also arguably led my WRX to an early grave, as I just finished pulling the motor out of it last month. 180k miles. Cause of death: spun bearing. No care. Would put 18 psi on that little td04 and inject it with corn juice again in a heartbeat |

I've been waiting for about a month now for my OFH, supposedly I'm #4 on the list. The OFT guys have been pretty good about emailing me with updates, shipment should be ready at the end of this week.
