That sucks ...seems like at those power levels the stock motor is a ticking time bomb. I personally would scrap the fa20 if it blew. Good luck on your build.

Working with Mike has been very straight forward--no punches pulled. Open communication and transparency in the process inspires confidence. That evening with closer to E85 (dyno was on E60) and temps around 50*F I was probably making closer to 450+hp…can't really blame anything for the bent rod I experienced other than the fact it was not designed for such power. 23k boosted miles over 2 years and through 2 Rochester winters isn't all that bad! When he inspected the pistons, they were very clean with no signs of pre-detonation; the only thing he mentioned out of the ordinary were silica deposits in the cylinders presumably from the casting of the cooling channels--guess I might have also lifted the heads a bit!

DI seal
Did you noticed any damage to DI seals?
some folks in this forum believe this engine not designed for boost (DI seal and Valve) . |

As I didn't do the tear down and inspection myself, I cannot say for sure, but Mike did not mention it at all. From what he described, the engine was in great shape until it finally and suddenly succumbed to the increased stresses. If it wasn't for the new valve springs, he was comfortable simply reinstalling the heads as they sat.
