Well, like I said, it seems like you got your sh!t together, so it's good because I've seen/known a fair share of crappy drivers, and it just pisses me off so much as to how the hell do these guys even get a drivers license. You may not fall into that group from what I read, but what happened just hit a nerve for me because I sure in hell don't want my friend or kid being the passenger or even near your car when that happened.

Consider myself lucky that I haven't done anything like that? PUL-EASE. Luck had nothing to do with me thinking things through before doing something stupid. Even if I wanted to do something stupid in my car back in highschool or something, I couldn't because my car was a POS.

So the whole point of the video is...even if they are going at 200km (124 mph), they got 7 rolls in. Not very scientific, but divide those together, and you get 1 roll/17.7mph. So I'm just saying, it not impossible if you rolled your car at least once if you didn't hit the telephone pole and instead clipped a curb or something. The telephone pole may have been your saving grace.
You've seriously never tried anything stupid in your car before? I give you mad props for that. Even my dad, who is the most responsible person I've ever met, admitted to doing some really stupid things with his car when he was younger. You are a rare case indeed.

To answer your question about how crappy drivers get their licenses, it's primarily due to the way we treat driving here in the US. Most people view driving as a right instead of a privelege, and our penalties for doing stupid things with our cars are insanely more lax than in some other countries. The thing that gets me the most is the steady increase in the amount of distracted drivers I tend to see around me. I swear every third person is on a cell phone or putting on makeup or doing anything BUT watching the road in front of them. It pisses me off to no end. But then there's people like me who aren't distracted but STILL do stupid shit with their cars. A perfect driver is hard to find it seems. Just be happy that this driver will be thinking twice about doing something stupid and reckless in his car again.

Honestly, I can't think of anything stupid I tired on my car. Frankly, because my first car was a POS and couldn't do anything, I mean, I took some turns over the suggested speed limit, but it wasn't to the point I was loosing traction.. and the cars after the first one were significantly better that I dare not to try anything on them, you can say that I babied them alot because it meant a lot for me once I got a car that replaced the POS first one I had. But because my first car was a POS RWD manual, I learned a great deal from it, and I wouldn't have wanted to learn how to drive manual on a nice car.

I couldn't agree with you more with the drivers license part. The government has make the drivers license test much harder IMO...pretty ridiculous as to what kind of drivers are out there. I live at an intersection, not a busy one either, and for some reason, every year there's at least 5 accidents. I don't get it. Do people not know how to tell the difference between red and green? And recently some drunk ass bitch took out a telephone pole a couple blocks from my house. Literally snapped the telephone pole in half.

You know, you're not that bad Wish more people were as mature as you.

And those people calling me a troll (feldy and you too FT-86GOD), well, doesn't seem like you know what a troll is. Quit jumping to dumb ass conclusions, and grow up. And for the love of god FT-86GOD, <3 isn't penis and balls, you fucking wished you had a pair, if you're curious, it looks like this B===D

So how do cars get appraised by insurance companies in these situations? Obviously there's no Used car price for a 2013 Scion FR-S, so do they make some sort of inflation adjustment based on brand/expected depreciation/current mileage or do they just call the MSRP its current value being this new?

I don't actually know how they're going to treat it, but from what people have been telling me, it's probably going to be adjusted for depreciation from driving it off the lot, etc. I've heard my friends tell me it'll probably be docked anywhere from $500-$5000, which tells me that my friends have no clue what's going to happen.

I have a corner lot here in Toronto, Ontario, and on the corner is a 3 way stop. Nearly no-one executes a complete stop at that intersection, not even police. Really need to set up my webcam pointed out there.

It's crazy to me that no-one stops at stop signs anymore.

After driving my FR-S for a few weeks.. Just having trouble grasping loosing the rear end at that low of speeds... unless you were flooring it in first on that turn... even when its wet out there is a good amount of grip before it breaks loose on turns..

but yup modern cars and their crunch points..

For most cars it's based on how previous model years depreciated, and it's based off of MSRP and then the depreciation percentage. I once totaled a car (a civic si) and got paid about $2-3K more than what I paid for it since it was pretty new and I had purchased it at a really great price. Don't feel too bad for the insurance companies though, they got me back with some pretty hilariously high rates for quite a few years after that.

That said, this damned accident is making me rethink buying one of these since the insurance is going to be total murder at this rate-already the quotes I'm seeing are totally crazy and in my area they make us pay crazy money even with a totally clean driving record and a 10 year old Camry...I'm gonna get reamed up the ass with an FR-S. I suppose that's what happens when you release a sports car with a totally defeatable traction control.

It's gonna take forever to repair this car just waiting on parts, and that's if your body shop is super gung ho about it. Honestly I'd pray for a total on this thing or you'll be driving a rental car for about 6 months lol

I'm gonna be honest, when I was 19 I totaled a basically brand new Civic Si with like 9000 miles on it. Injured my knee since it was a 4 car pileup where my car got smashed up by the full size pickup behind me but I'm still thankful I didn't die (even though now over a decade later my knee still hurts like a mofo half the time). Either way, I think one of the better decisions I made after that was to really boring out my driving. So I bought a Camry (lol) and had one more accident that I probably could have prevented (skidded out in a freak april snowfall but it's something better driving could have avoided) but after that I got the hang of genuinely being a defensive driver so except for pretty unavoidable rear endings (where I'm stuck in traffic and can't move out of the way...unfortunately this has happened 3 times since-friggin' retarded NY drivers). It takes time to control your stupider urges and the insurance rates pretty much reflect that. So what I'm saying is that if the insurance company lets you total it you should consider something else other than an FR-S. I didn't trust myself to be able to handle that temptation to not drive like an idiot again and kill myself the 2nd time and to be honest I can't see anybody driving an FR-S in a boring manner and being OK with that so it's gonna make you want to hoon it so bad if you get another one. Might wanna consider just buying something else then saving up and waiting until your insurance rates stop being so rapey to get another sports car.

I have to admit I've fallen victim to this very thing a couple of times in my mazda 626. To the conversation about doing stupid things in your car, I like to consider myself a pretty careful driver, but the stupid things I have done in my car would have to be hitting my breaks at the start of a slide and spinning around completely.

One time was on light snow, through a round about at maybe 20-25 mph, felt it start to go sideways, tapped the breaks barely and ended up facing the wrong way. It was midnight, no one around.

Another time was on an entrance ramp to a highway in the rain. It had just started raining, which is when it is the most slick and I was going around the sharp curve of the ramp, maybe 25mph, same thing happened, slight slip, didn't think and hit the breaks, spun around backwards. Got extremely lucky, no one was behind me.

I also spun out my brothers 240SX several years ago in a similar rain situation taking off from a stop sign. But that was RWD.

To be honest this stuff makes me nervous about the FR-S, but I want the car too bad to not get it because of this. My nannies will probably never come off though haha
