TRD lowering springs
So I was looking to get some lower springs for the 2015 FR-S.
I heard that the TRD springs wont void the warranty. However, on the site they show them compatible for 13,14 and 16 model years. LINK HERE : http://www.trdusa.com/parts-detail.h...ring%20Springs WHY NO 15?!?! ![]() Do you guys know any other parts like this that are just different for the 15? |

I believe the front spring rate changed for 2015 so the TRD springs may not have been changed yet to match.

They will be completely compatible with the 15. Probably just an oversight in the write up on them.

I see, it just seems odd that they already have the 16s up but no 15s.
I ran into a similar thing when trying to find out how to remove the scion logo on the headunit at start up. Found on the older models it was possible.. no love for the 2015s... which is what got me thinking about my second question in post. |

The change in the spring rates on the 15s won't have any affect since by changing the springs you are changing the spring rate anyway. Everything else in the suspension is exactly the same across all the years.

Ah so the lowered springs are a different rate...Given that they were designed for the previous model years did the TRD springs change the handling characteristics of the car or were they designed to keep the same balance at a lower ride height? If so what affect is that going to have on the 15 and 16 since the front spring rate was changed and something done to the rear (bushings I think?) to make the car turn in aggressively but less tail happy?

RS1.0 includes TRD lowered springs in its package.
So there are definitely TRD lowered springs for 2015 models. And I am with Tcoat that its most likely a typo. |

Almost forgot to reply to this part!
The TRD springs (or any other parts for that matter) will not void the warranty if installed by the dealer or somebody authorised by the dealer. If done yourself or at an "unauthorised" shop the dealer can claim that they were not installed properly and attempt to not honour the warranty.

TRD springs
Here are some shots of my FR-S with TRD lowering springs. I took these shots with a cell phone at dusk, but I think they show the clearance and the wheel gap OK.
The TRD springs were installed by the dealer as part of the original purchase. However, I did drive the car for ~2 weeks (1200 miles) before the TRD additions were installed (springs, sway bars, quick shifter, cold air intake, exhaust, brake pads). With the springs installed, I can no longer use the side entrance to the parking lot at work; it scrapes. I have to use the shallower main entrance. I like the look and the feel of the springs, but I do have to be more careful about clearance now. I use her as a daily driver, currently averaging a little under 100 miles per day. I likey. |
