Tail lights are much more difficult to re-seal IMO

Side Note:
This method below has helped in my past modification to my other vehicles.

After resetting the lens to the housing and allowing it to cool down for a minute, cover the lens with a towel and set it under the couch cushion and add weights as need to weigh down the cushion. This will help to press and reseal the lens to the housing to minimize/eliminate condensation.

BTW, make sure no one sits on them.

Did you also put silicone to seal the headlights after the putting it back into the oven? Very tempted to try this, but just afraid of headlight condensation occuring.

If your worried about re-sealing, you should add some rubber butyl

Thanks! that would be cleaner, but is it necessary? I mean it would be good security to use rubber butyl or silicone as added security, but are most people putting the headlights back on with the original glue without any issues?

I think Paul usually recommends adding some rubber butyl just for safe measure, for how rubber butyl is, you might as well add it IMO

I want to do this badly but am scared of ripping apart the lights. I would never want to lose the high beams. Just blacking out the projector area looks badass enough.

Okay cool thanks Nick! Yeah it would also just give me a peace of mind instead of being paranoid lol. Do you recommend any places to get some from?

I think O'reilly's probably carries it, but if you google "Automotive Butyl" you can read a little more to get piece of mind about it. It's one of those things where it seems really intimidating, but if you take your time and have patience it's actually pretty simple.

Of course if you ever have any issues or anything you can always shoot me a PM or contact us: contact@diodedynamics.com

Paul has the most experience with taking the lenses off and our team is exceptionally knowledgeable.

These look sick! Great job. Is it hard to do? I like the strip under the light.

The reteofit source sells the good stuff as well. I picked some up when I ordered my retrofit. Never ended up using it for the headlights though.

Shout out to darrin for the write up made life a lot easier. One thing I did notice in steps 3 and 4 when you remove the side marker if you stick an awl or some small pick tool you can pop the push pin out rather than removing the side marker, I think that why it may have broken

I finally manned up and did this and I must say, I'm glad I did it, thanks to Darrin for this diy, I nearly wanted to give up when I was opening my headlights. Most nerve racking experience! Will have some pics soon.

If anyone is having a hard time with taking out the side markers heres a video I used and it was actually super easy to take off without breaking it.
