Thanks for the support guys... After giving the BRZ a rinse off I was able to get the white line removed with what appears to be no perm damage! Very thankful for that! What sucks about my parking is that I'm not actually putting the car in any crazy location to draw attention to it... I really have no idea how someone could run the length if the passenger side without knowing what they were doing though... Tomorrow I'm going to park across the lot in a totally different location to try and prevent this from reoccurring.

These scenes have been on my mind a lot with the new car...

It is risky in either situation. We could be safe if we park with other cars to blend in, but it could easily conceal someone's bad intentions. Parking away from everyone will make your car look more vulnerable, but the open space will deter the criminals from damaging your car as they would risk revealing themselves.

No one really knows. The most we can do is hope for the best.

Yeah, I just got my car tonight and I am a little paranoid letting it out of my sight. Not really looking forward to any commercial appointments I need to go to that are in public places.

I know a piece of me is going to die the first time I see a scratch/dent.

Glad to hear your car seems to be okay!

Yeah. I've once been in a situation where I found someone who scratched my mom's car. They actually had the audacity to tell me that these things happen and that I shouldn't worry about it. WTH.. they hit my mom's bmw with their junkyard Buick and it's okay for them, so it should be okay with me?!

I don't care if I park next to a shitty van... I stay just as careful opening my door and showing the car my utmost respect. Often times, I even have more respect for the car than the owner too.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately people that try to take care of their cars are at the mercy of the majority of the population that do not care about other peoples property (or their own). We have to deal with people that are negligent, as well as people that are vindictive and jealous, not to mention the beating our vehicles take just from the elements and things out of our control. It's a battle everyday.

Smash their window and tell them not to worry, these things happen.

If they see the light when the shoe is on the other foot and start complaining, tell them you're more than happy to exchange information and that their insurance will receive a claim for a whole-car repaint to preserve the value of the trade-in. ($3000 vs $500, but the window is much more inconvenient.)

WTF... that's messed up. What happened after? Did they end up paying for the damage?

When I get my new car I'm going to do a full vehicle wrap in clear bra or satin guard. Either that or Opti-coat. It's worth the extra money because it gives you peace of mind knowing your baby will be ok. People these days...

I just park as far as I can really.

But, at the end of the day it's life, and shit like that happens.

I always found it amusing when I park the farthest away in a lot, there ends up being cars that PARK right beside me when everything is empty....

True Trolls.

I was in this same position twice with my ae86. I was at the mall and i parked away from everyone since there was this nice shade and when i came back some douche had keyed my car. Then again i took my gf out to a movie and saw that some idiot had bumped into my car and left a big dent in it >.<
It does suck.

Sucks. Just as I was about to sell my 06 WRX a couple years ago, some idiot keyed the front door while I was sitting in a restaurant parking lot. Glad it wasn't too deep.

Park away from other cars, but not way out in the open. Also, if possible, park with one side of the car against a curb and hug that curb as close as you can. That gives the idiot that's bound to park on your other side plenty of room.

That's exactly what I do.
