All they need to do is stick to the original plan. Economical to obtain and own, lightweight (with power to weight around 12lbs/hp), fun to drive. Look like the concept and it's golden. Anything after that is gravy (including a turbo model for the kind of price you suggest).
That would be ideal, but I doubt Toyota will "stick with the original plan" regarding the FT-86. I can see them pushing all kinds of crap at it in an attempt to drive up the price. Especially if this thing might still be badged as a Scion - a rwd alternative to the tC.

I just don't see Toyota doing that, they know how to make money, which is why they stopped producing sports cars. They aren't #1 because of the Supra or the AE86, they are #1 because of the Camry.

I just think the only way Toyota will be able to make a proper sports car is to set the price so high that they can say, "See, we told you there is no money in the sports car market. Now can we get back to making Prius'."

Sure if it was equipped and detailed to a level that seemed appropriate. Why not?

Near that price it opens up a lot of other choices that could make more sense depending on needs.

IMO the FT-86 needs to be $25k or less.. anything over that is excessive for the car IMO.

I don't see it being more than $25k for a base model, now for premium or g-sports ya I can easily see it and would probably pay for it depending on if the specs and options are that much better than base
