A phone inquiry to Mishi asking about the thermostat resulted in them saying "thermostatic refers to the coating". (Every corporation has idiots, was that one ? I don't know).
You definitely got their company idiot then... directly from the description on that link:

Billet aluminum oil sandwich plate in standard or thermostatic form
Based on the description of just the sandwich plate (which describes it as having a thermostat), the thermostatic kit definitely has a thermostat in it.

Plus, a thermostatic coating would be powdercoating, but those plates are definitely anodized.

Thermostatic definitely necessary for winter driving! Or a shutoff valve.

Is this true? I'm in the market and was considering this one, since it seems comparable to the Perrins one: http://www.maximalperformance.com/fr...oil-cooler-kit

Alternatively, I'll consider the Mishimoto with the Thermostat or a Jackson Racing cooler if they offer much better cooling.

I wouldn't, our cars run REALLY hot on the track, especially the big tracks.

Looks like they can offer a 19 Row Setrab instead of the 13 Row for a slight price bump.

I think there may be a thin and a thick 19 row, the thick one is better, holds more oil.

There is definitely a thermostat in the Orange/Gold thermostatic sandwich plate from mishi. You can see the Black bolt running through the back - that's a thermostat with a spring inside...can visually inspect that it controls the channel. Although, I've been told that it will never fully close, always a trickle flow to prevent airlock.

Mishi Oil Cooler Update

Since we have had a couple of days of summer, I was able to briefly manage 200 degrees while stopped in traffic.
Still can't push it hard enough around civilians to get it hotter.

My set up has the License Plate dead center of the shark mouth, directly in front of the oil rad, to block it, and prevent cooling.
The plate comes off on the track for full airflow.

If I get my tires in time from Factory Tire I will be running the Gran Prix F1 track at Mosport on Thurs. and will report back the results.

Anyone have experience with the CX Racing? It looks to be about $550.00 CDN$ including shipping and appears to be a 19 row. I dont mind assembling the hoses to save $300!

To be honest, its a very simple device, so as long as they used quality materials, I wouldn't imagine there being any issues.

I hide in salt weather, but if I wintered my track car I would definitely put an oil thermostat in (looks better than a piece of cardboard).

I also did not go for the fan etc.

I saw the install of my other cooler, but not the Mishi, and after, I was to busy checking for leaks to look closely at the plate.

Maybe ! Goin out to look !

Hey guys! Chiming in here to clear up any confusion in regards to our oil cooler kit. We do offer both a thermostatic and non-thermostatic oil cooler setup. This refers to the type of sandwich plate being used, not any coating included on the component. Confusion may have occurred due to the way we differentiate between our options, which is with the use of two different color anodized finishes. Our non-thermostatic plates are silver and our thermostatic units are gold. The thermostatic sandwich plate utilizes an internal thermostat to restrict oil flow until an appropriate operating temperature is reached. We recommend this for most vehicles seeing frequent road use and/or cool temperatures. Outright track vehicles should have no issue using our non-thermostatic kit.
Let me know if you guys have any additional questions about this kit!

Is this occurring with our kit installed?

Just got back from the Formula 1 Gran Prix Track at Mosport.

Flogged the car hard, full day session. It was hot and humid.

While tracking, oil temps were generally cooler than sitting and idling in
traffic !

Second half of the day, got into serious WOT, lapping Porsches etc. (Surprised at the new Vette ! One cornered like us but faster and smoother !)

No Mishi - 270 on hot days and it stays at that temp !

With the Mishi rad, 220 several times, 224 once, but those highest temps only briefly, until the car moved faster, then the temp goes down immediately.

Worth every ruble !
