I agree with OP. I still love my car even after nearly two years of ownership, however over the course of ownership, I have found an issue with my transmission (shit grinds whenever I aggressively shift up or down into 5th) and the thin paint. Other than that, I enjoy driving the car as much as the first time I test drove one. Maintenance on our cars is easy as hell and this is coming from a not mechanically inclined individual!

I am with the GTR guy, there is ALWAYS some one faster. For a DD this is an outstanding choice. I love to work on cars and drive them. That is both on the track and on the street. The fast cars give you about 3 seconds of WOT then you are looking around for the MAN unless you are at the track. In this car my right foot has intimate knowledge of the floor. I shift at red line a great deal of the time and break and turn hard. I LOVE IT!!! Yes I did add some power but more because I could than really needed. I have less than 5K into tune and hardware, so not sure where the 10K is coming from. Oh, even in pure stock mode a tune will make a world of difference in driving pleasure.

A lot of FI research I've read showed about 5~6k for the kit, and then 4k for install, bigger brakes, new clutch, oil catch/cooler, etc etc. |

If you are not tracking the car then all the extras are probably not needed. I was talking a well used and liked DD. I have used this car at the track with no issues. Well I did put on a different set of break pads and tires but that was it. If you are setting up a track car then multiply the 10K by 4 to 10 depending on how badly you want to win. There is a weakest link problem that applies to cars, drive it until it breaks then make that part better you may never need the clutch or the oversized breaks or even the cooling. Start with the critical part and work into it.
I am not trying to discourage but rather encourage your efforts. I do all most all of my own work so maybe labor is the difference. Or perhaps prices have gone up in the last two years. I found that I could trade computer work for dyno time, be inventive. Many times there will be a club or individual in your area that will help with your install for a six pack and a good dinner. |

Yes, you've spoiled.
Mind stepping into the back yard please? The dogs are sneezing so loud it might wake up the trunk monkey.
