Can I plug and play this amp?
This is for an FRS
Last time I touched audio was over a decade ago, so forgive me but I forgot pretty much everything. Last week my brother sent our venerable VW Golf to the scrap yard and gave me back my amp that I put into it many moons ago. It's a nice amp and i was 100% satisfied with it given my needs. My question, how easy will it be to plug this baby in place of my OEM one with minimal wiring. I am okay with losing rear speakers. My head unit is OEM. I can solder no problem. I don't plan on doing any other mods. Just want to boost the power to my front. Will I be able to use the OEM wires and just splice them? Is there a handy connector I could buy? Will I have to route the power again or can I use the OEM power cable? (I saw a post saying that if it's a BRZ then no good) is 150w too much for OEM?

The factory amp is rated 15A, that 2.6x is rated 20A. So you could try but you'll may blow fuses. You could plug a 20 in.. But then you risk fire. If you check out the audio directory there's a super good thread on how to use the oem harness,to plug and play. I'd try it out with the 15 fuse and try to under gain. Also maybe get some new door speakers to take advantage of the new amp.

so basically pull the relevant pins out, put them into the new amp, and hope the amperage will suffice? (turn down the gain a bit?)

Even turning the gain down you may blow fuses. Might want to check that it's 2ohm safe too.. I didn't check that. Stocks are 2 ohm.
