I guess the question is how flammable. Performix also makes a flexible acrylic coating like Plastidip called HCF but HCF is non-flammable. I'm making inquires about t his.
I read this somewhere else and decided to test it on a loose piece of PlastiDip I had left over from spraying the car.

It does burn. It doesn't flash or anything like that. It simply burns at a consistent rate. Perhaps there is an additive that can be added to help extinguish the flame front?

I'm interested to hear what you learn about the other non-flammable product they sell.

Here's a quick video I just took to show you how PlastiDip burns. I imagine it would burn a little bit differently when bonded to a vehicle. Maybe not?

Not as bad as I thought but I still have to consider if I'm stuck, upside down and trapped in a race car that's on fire, will this material increase my likelihood of death? So far I think the answer is yes. If you held torch to normally painted body panel of a car it would not combust like that. Even though the ignition doesn't occur all that quickly and the flame doesn't travel all that slowly it still seems like people are covering their cars in something is equivalent to placing a wick in wax, if you get the analogy.

And thank you for doing that for me. You responded faster than the folks at Dipyourcar.com (they have yet to respond).

Grrr.

Yeah, I agree with you -- dunno how much better a vinyl wrap is though. It and PlastiDip are somewhat comparable.

The DYC guys need to hire many more people. I placed (another) order with them on June 30th and it still hasn't shipped. I guess I'll have to start looking elsewhere. AWarehouseFull.com offers it in 5 gallon pails at a pretty decent price. You have to buy your thinner locally but that's not a big deal.

There are different colors available, and it doesn't have to be totally flat/matte either, there are gloss and metallic finishes available.
goodbye clear coat

His name fits perfectly to a stupid stunt like that, he must have been drinking when he thought up the idea.
