In my mind @ 2700lbs and 180hp, I might as well buy an MR-S, and franky I think it'd meet the same fate, unless it can be far more practical (likely what with +2 seats and a trunk) and cheaper (unlikely, the MR-S was $24K Base). Because It certainly wouldn't be much faster.

If you want a fast car for cheap, buy a used mustang GT. A real sports car isn't fast in a straight line, it's fast in the corners.

The FT-86 is what the Celica should have been.

I think what tainted the Celica was when they went from FR to FF for the 4th gen version.

As a long time Celica driver I sure as hell hope it isn't like the 7th gen. It was light weight and Zippy, but it got its ass stomped by the RSX, and it had little aftermarket support, without dropping $$$ (which I did). Also the Celica was looked at as a weak car, and I don't see that from the rwd FT. Apples to oranges...I hope.

I've driven a Lotus Elise. Real sports car = check fast in the corners = check fast in a straight line = nope and it runs high 12s/low 13s stock. |

As per your reference, I can think of a lot of Ferrari (which no one can deny are real sports cars) that are fast and are real sports cars. Lotus own Exige will hit 60 in under 4 seconds, and really, if you aren't in a track/race car or supercar, than quick enough for me to call them fast. Are you a "10 second car" kinda guy? ![]() Quote:
God, tell me about the "needs work". We are almost finished with my brother's S12 project, and I'm here trying NOT to pick up a rwd starlet and put the extracted CA18ET engine it it, for kick and shenanigans.... and general hooning. |

I just don't think a car is "fast" until it does low 11s. Quick is 12s-13s, I'd even say the Miata is quick and it's a hell of a sports car.
