This is my laguna seca with a stock e92 M3. My best time was 1:53 ever.

My friend (200+ track days) got a 1:53 with a stock FRS. Just need more seat time =)

I've been doing lots of suspension research recently and I thought this was a really interesting point - unless you can try lots of different suspension to get a feel for how they are different - how do you know what good suspension feels like? Are there particular characteristics that good suspension shows, etc?

Yeah, I wasn't very aggressive and if you watch closely, I'm lifting off throttle through 4 and slightly "misshifting" into 6.

The main thing is the whole concept of "firmness" vs "harshness".

Both feel shitty, both give you the "car on rails" feeling. I think the best way to describe it is this:

Drive freeway speed over a freeway bridge joint, where it launches you enough to feel as if you've come off your seat. Stock or "bad" suspension will have a momentary secondary "float", or really bad suspension will move a second or two longer.

Good suspension will bottom out and minimize the upward movement.

Both will still feel like shit over bad roads to the average driver.
