Car is not going faster but with sports mode your running at a higher rev range so your experiencing more power delivery, this car's engine comes to life at higher RPMs.

This car needs a dual clutch trans. Much lighter than an auto and slightly heavier than a manual. I think they cost more. Not sure.

Man, if only Scion/Subaru included a document that 'splained the various modes an AT has and what they do.

I call it quirky because since I've owned this car I've had several annoying issues with it. But Ive learned to live with the issues. And As for saying "whip." Just how I talk hahah.

Sports mode isn't really suited for daily driving, because it will hold gears even at cruising speeds; which can be fixed with a paddle shift up. It will definitely shine on the track or auto-x where you need it to hold the revs.

Why not just drive in manual? The only time I've used Auto mode is when the gf has to put her head on my lap as I'm driving

I forgot how this car drives in auto with sport mode.

I find it funny how there are so many manual fan boys. Sure my past cars were manuals, yeah I've done experienced it all and it was much fun. Local homies hated that I didn't opt for the manual transmission. If only they knew our auto with the rev management/tranny still makes it a blast to drive.

It's also because the GEARING sucks on the auto. Making a slow car even slower.
<-Manual fanboy.

Swap out the FD gears. Cheap and simple. Im planing on 4.88 gears this fall :burn rubber:

Most people that hate on the AT probably haven't driven it in manual mode. I love it, and despite being a slush box it shifts faster than I could.

Sidenote: my daily is a manual.

The auto is amazingly quick at shifting, the only thing it lacks is the driver enagegment, and the complete lack of ability to hoon around, but on the roads and track, its perfectly fine. I have never used sport mode, I always use manual mode.

Sport mode and traction control off (hold traction button for 5 seconds) is the only way to drive auto.

Btw, there's no shame in admitting you got an Auto because LA traffic sucks (because it does) and you don't want to be using a manual through all of that. Most people would feel the same way.

Sport mode is really worth driving in all the time, especially in traffic. You get used to how it gear breaks and soon it will feel just natural and smooth. Most times I can drop it to 3rd, 2nd and gently apply the breaks approaching a stop. Mine spends most its time in 3rd / 4th if just zipping round in 60~70km/h zones.

You just need to get used to popping into a higher gear (if worried about drone or saving a little fuel). Mine generally sits around the 2500 rpm range and throttle response is delicious.

OP hold down the trac button for 4 seconds and you'll disengage the traction control completely. You'll have two lights on your dash when this is active.
