I kept the car in 3rd around 50mph and pinned it and the car just kept climbing in revs and speed and just planted itself. The exit out of the turn onto the Cross Island was just amazing since you get to go under an overpass mid-turn. The car was singing. I'm getting used to the raspy sound (its a big departure from the roar of my LS powered G8 GT.)
Hah, I'm from LI and know that turn. Great idea, I'll have to try it out too when I go visit family.

Have you driven it in Manhattan yet? I'm picking up my car from Connecticut tomorrow morning and have a 7 hour drive home. My girlfriend wants to stop by in NYC and I told her I don't really want to drive my brand new car in the city. Should I just get a room in queens with parking like I'm thinking? I've driven in Manhattan several times and hesitate to take my brand new BRZ there so early.

I haven't yet but I work in long island city which is the same type of roads/traffic as Manhatten. It's not that bad just watch out for errant manhole covers

I bought my car in manhattan and I drive into the city. As long as your smart and cautious about the roads there shouldn't be a problem. My biggest issue besides traffic has been cobble stone roads, which I just drive around

Thanks, we ended up parking it in White Plains and taking Metro North in. Garage parking overnight was way cheaper that way and I could avoid parking in the city.

I'm very curious about the whole tuner scene up in Queens. I was there a few weeks ago to visit a friend who lives a minute away from the LIE, and on my way there, my Valentine One radar that I just purchased that day went off multiple times. At 3 am, outside my friend's house, I would hear engines revving and police sirens going off.

I was back in Queens the other day and it was the same thing again. I went home early in the morning, around 6am. I took the LIE to Brooklyn Expressway back to Jersey. I saw so many tuned cars and ricers, I was amazed. I saw probably a dozen cars on the way back. Most of them drove together too.
