So this past week I had reached out to Toyota/Scion Headquarters and spoke to a woman by the name of Angelica who was very friendly and wanted to help out my case with my car. So her and her manager went down to Westchester Toyota to find out what is the deal with the car and why is it taking almost a month to start work?

So Anyways she reached out to me today and Received some great news. First my car is being repaired under manufacture warranty. (*_*) Second They got me a rental car. Third they will look into the Rust issues with my car and see if they can fix it. Lastly, they want monthly statements of paid monthly bills also how much in total I owe left so They can review it and see what they can do for me regarding not having a car for a month and see if they can help with credit on next month bill.

I am so happy! I even got my Insurance reimbursement towing $100 dollars back!

I can't wait to see my car back with a rebuild engine and no rust

This thread is an emotionally roller coaster with what looks like light at the end of a dark and scary tunnel run haha. Congrats and hope it all goes smoothly!

What "rust issues"? I didn't see any reference to them before. Just curious really since I haven't heard of many with rust.

Yes take it easy for the first 1000 miles same as when it was new.

Yes, a new or rebuilt engine has to be broken in just like when the car came from the factory. They should give you break-in instructions. Follow them. If they don't, follow the break-in instructions in your user manual as if you just bought the car.

The most important thing to remember is to NOT use cruise control for the first 1000 miles. Otherwise the engine will not develop its full power throughout the RPM range and can develop ring problems later on. The break-in instructions will likely say to keep it to 4000 RPM or below. That's not absolutely critical, but you don't want to be revving the shit out of a new engine either. So take it easy, despite how tempted you're going to be to go flog it when you get it back.

Update:

So I got a call from the woman who works at scion headquarters, she is helping me with updates regarding my vehicle. So another great news, I found out that in 3-4 weeks I will be getting a check on my 1 Month Reimbursement that I have requested for not having my car for a month since it has been at Toyota Service center

I wonder how much longer it will take them to receive these parts and then rebuild it? It has already been 1 week since they told me that they order the parts... I wonder if it will take another month lmfao. If so I will ask the woman for another reimbursement for that. I have a rental car FINALLY since last week. I got my self a Toyota Yaris lol It's a nice...little...small looking...Smart car :P but it's great on gas though so I can not complain.

Update:

So I picked up my Car today was very excited and happy and then as I walked in I spoked to the manager and has told me that the cause was "knocking noise from engine rod bearings worn metal in pan replaced short block

here are the parts replaced

1) SU003-00093 SHORT BLOCK ENG AY
2) SU003-04572 COVER ASSY-CHAIN
3)SU003-00094 GSKT&SEAL SET-ENG
4)00272-GTBC1 GT SUPER LLC BLUE
5)90915-YZZS1 ELEMENT, OIL FILTER
6)00279-0W201-01 0W20 BULK OIL-W
7)00295-00103 FIPG OIL

I don't know much about engine but if you rebuild a short block do you get new pistons and all that stuff? or is this the list that comes with all that when they put "short block"??

So anyways I didn't pay anything. I found out that they didn't do anything about the rust. I will find out the next thing to see wtf happen about that?

So I got my keys and was told that they drove the car and there is a check engine light. That they would like me to bring it back this week coming up for early bird service to adjust the master timing? I think that is what he said and to fix that check engine light. So I got inside my car and noticed not only do I have a check engine light but I also have a Traction light on! My VSC sport or Traction button does not turn on at all! The traction light does not go away even if I press the buttons. So WTF. The car drives fine but I did noticied that when i slow down to 11 mph that i get this soft.. KICK from the engine... I do not know why it does that. Feels like a gear kick i dont know how to put it into words... Other than that he told me they changed the oil to Synthetic 0w20 and to come back in 10K miles or earlier and to not floor it to let it break in about 1000 -1500 miles.

Glad you got it back!

But they told you to bring it back to "adjust the master timing". Wonder what they are talking about. What is this 1962? Let me go to my garage and dust off my timing light.
