Sound generator tube removal, $5-100 depending on method and it cleans up the engine bay really nicely. That and wheels, but buy them used from someone on here or the fb group for cheap.

Am I the only one that couldn't stand looking at those stupid forester tips sitting in the giant cutouts? The first thing I bought for my car is the Perrin 2.5" catback and I don't regret it one bit. Now I'm thinking I want more and will probably go header back, tint my windows, and maybe buy new wheels when the stock tires wear out. Other than that I'd call it a day already.

It all depends on what you're wanting. I set out knowing I wanted to go all black and did some basics of smoked sidemarkers, smoked Valenti tails, black wheels, black emblems (Toyota ones), and a 20% tint. I'm not quite done on the outside as I'll be getting black headlights at some point too. Oh and if you got a '14 or before switch out the terrible antenna.
Really it just depends on what you want your car to look like in the end. I know I wanted to get the exterior mods done before I started on the performance parts. Check out the build threads though, I got some great ideas from there.

first mods for me were removing the badges from the rear of the car, then catback, plate relocation and clear side markers.

I went batmobile with mine lol. I second the guy above about exhaust. Anything looks better than the tiny tips being swallowed up by the large exhaust holes. Check out Darren's shop if you are thinking of lowering it. Low prices fast service. Search on the northwest thread, I believe he has a bbq event coming up where it's going to be a lowering car party. Welcome to the community

My humble advice would be to not mess with the geometry or suspension of the car for the first few thousand miles while you get acquainted with it. Keep the stock tires as well for a few thousand miles.
My first mod though was catback and a master cylinder brace. Still on stock suspension and tires after nearly 5k miles.
