Let's flip that again...

Adding HP is way easier than losing weight (aftermarket).

Do you know Ron White? "You can't fix stupid" it's fun because is mostly true, and apply to handling

Really?

http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...rburgring-lap/

A 1LE runs about an 8 minute time which costs less than the Z/28. The FR-S is a whole minute behind that even with its amazing handling.

The 2016 is supposed to take all of the elements of the 2015 1LE and not only reduce 200 lbs, but improve upon everything.

Unfortunately, to meet all the customer demand for upgraded quality interiors, less road noise, etc., as well as the latest safety regulations, cars are only getting heavier and heavier. The C7 vette is 3300-3600 depending on trim and coupe vs vert. The new Mustang gained weight with the addition of IRS and upgraded interior and is now 3500-3700.

There's a major reason why the FR-S/BRZ/Miata/S2000 crowd is a small niche compared to the general car-buying public. For the most part, we don't mind road noise, stripped down interiors to the basics, lack of rear space, etc. all in the name of lighter weight/better handling. We are in the minority of people when it comes to that.

However, that said, as heavy as a fifth gen Camaro is, even a basic SS handles very surprisingly well (especially after 2012's revision to the suspension).

I really hope you can see out of the next gen. That was the biggest takeaway from me after driving a SS for a weekend. Nice power but couldn't see shit, felt like I was driving a tank that took up the entire lane. I have no idea why the mustang/camaro have to be so large, they'd be so much better sports cars if they were smaller.

It's because the 5th gen Camaro was based on Chevy's Zeta platform. It's a heavy platform that underpins big RWD sedans like the Pontiac G8 and Chevy SS.

When Chevy announced that this new Camaro would be based on the smaller Alpha platform (think Caddy ATS), it was widely assumed that it would lose some weight and size. The only question was how much. Looks like the answer was about 200 lbs.

I was hoping that as well but the spy photos really don't seem to point to it heading that way. That said, I didn't find the current Gen any more difficult to see out of than the FR-S or MomHawk's '05 Mustang Convertible.

If anything, I think the view over the hood will be improved looking at the outlines of it from the side. I don't think we'll see improvement in blind spots and the rear. The ATS chassis will be a nice welcome though.

GM seems pretty confident that the new Camaro will be better than the mustang in every way.

Well I would hope they were! If they weren't they threw a pile of R&D money out the window.

They also had the time to tear apart a 2015 Mustang and dissect it to set the bar where the Camaro needs to beat. It's an endless war really. Ford got the market early and the 2015 is selling really well from just what I see on the streets driving around. I'd like to actually sit in one to see this interior improvement. This will be the year GM will outdo them. Before it was when Ford released the Coyota 5.0 GM got worried. If the Camaro comes with 460 HP from the factory.... sweet jesus.

The interior is the one aspect I'm actually a little worried about, but I'm sure we'll see the excuse of, "it's a sports car, isn't it?"

I want a 16, but I don't want to trade in my BRZ for one. really can't justify 2 sports coupes.

My future plan: 2016 Mazda 3 S Grand Touring -> Daily Drive / Work

2017 Camaro SS: Weekend monster.

I'm a little undecided on my FR-S. Such a crazy handler and head turner. Finding it hard to get rid of because you don't see one every 200 feet like a Mustang and Camaro.
