If you live on the other side of the “pond” and fancy a supercharged Camaro, Geiger has got you covered.

For the musclecar-loving Europeans, the German tuner slash importer has prepped a special Chevy Camaro just in time for the model’s 50th anniversary. It’s called the Supercharged 630, and, like its name suggests, is just 29 PS (29 hp) shy of the ZL1’s output.

That’s because Geiger concentrated its efforts on uprating the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 from 461 PS (455 hp) and 617 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque to 630 PS (621 hp) and 791 Nm (583 lb-ft) of torque. In order to achieve the extra grunt, Geiger added a supercharger, optimized the software, and implemented a new oil cooling system.

With that kind of power at its disposal, the revitalized Camaro is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds, and reach a maximum top speed of 305 km/h.

To better control the added horsepower, Geiger installed a KW Variant 1 coilover suspension system along with a set of 21-inch OZ Racing Superturismo Dakar alloys, wrapped in 255/35ZR21 tires at the front and 295/30ZR21 at the rear.

Visually, the Chevrolet Camaro Supercharged 630 also received an aggressive body kit that comes with a new front spoiler, side skirts, and a rear diffuser embedded into the bumper. Additionally, the car comes with a sunroof, special leather interior, a sport exhaust system, Brembo brakes, rear diff, and audio and multimedia packages.

The maker of the FireBall Camaro almost describes this build as the ultimate Hellcat and Roush ‘Stang hunter. We think it has something to do with the car’s 990 hp power figure.

From the outside, it looks like your regular old SS, but it bears supercar-worthy performance figures. Needless to say, there isn’t anything like it, as in its quest to create the fastest Camaro for the track, and for the streets, Fireball came up with the ultimate muscle car.

Fireball usually builds 9-second drag cars, but this time they used all their expertise to offer a road-legal variant of their racers. Unveiled at the SEMA show, a few days ago, the 6th gen Camaro features a plethora of high-performance components, including a Fireball supercharger, ported heads, high-performance lifters, Chromoly pushrods, and the list goes on and on.

Let’s just say it has enough modifications to develop 990 hp at the flywheel (827 whp), and 677.34 lb-ft (918 Nm) of torque. That’s 340 hp more than a ZL1, albeit Fireball doesn’t specify what engine does the vehicle use.

And here’s the interesting part; the vehicle will be available at select dealers with an MSRP of less than $90,000. Or less than a $100 per horsepower, as Fireball wants to put it.

So, if you own a Challenger or Charger Hellcat, well, run!

The latest generation the Camaro ZL1 was the top dog of the range on the track, but apparently, Chevy had other plans up its sleeves. Making its debut today at the Daytona International Speedway is the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE, an even more hardcore version of what was already labeled by many as a track monster.

We had actually caught the Camaro ZL1 1LE back in October of 2016 while testing, but at the time, we had wrongly assumed it was a mule for the next Z/28.

Chevy uses the 1LE packages on the standard V6 and V8 Camaros to improve their handling, and it promises to do the same with the ZL1 adding special aero technologies, an adjustable racing suspension, exclusive tires while also reducing weight.

“The track-focused 1LE package offers progressive levels of performance across the Camaro lineup, from the V6 1LE to the SS 1LE,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “But with the new ZL1 1LE, the progression takes a quantum leap — this is the ultimate track-day Camaro.”

According to the company, in preliminary testing, the new ZL1 1LE was 3 seconds faster than the standard ZL1 Coupe around General Motors’ 2.9-mile, 18-turn Milford Road Course test track. Three seconds might not sound a lot to the uninitiated, but’s it’s a huge improvement when we’re talking about track times.

Chevy says it achieved this without touching the ZL1’s 6.2-liter LT4 V8 that continues to put down 650hp and 650 lb-ft of torque and is linked exclusively to a 6sp manual (the new 10speed auto is not offered), through four key elements starting with the aerodynamics. New features include a giant carbon fiber rear wing, specific air deflectors and dive planes on the front fascia that generate more downforce.

One of the most important updates brought along by the 1LE package is the replacement of the standard ZL1’s Magnetic Ride shocks with the racing-derived, lightweight Multimatic DSSV (Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve) dampers on both ends, which was used on the previous Camaro Z/28 with astounding results. Chevy also made other tweaks to the suspension including a three-way adjustable rear stabilizer bar.

The ZL1 1LE rides on new, 1-inch wider, but an inch smaller in diameter front and rear forged alloy wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires that deliver max lateral grip of 1.10g and which warm up faster. While the overall footprint grows around 10 percent over the regular ZL1, the wheel-and-tire package weighs about 1.5 pounds (3.3 kg) less per corner.

The use of lighter wheels and dampers, along with reduced thickness rear glass and a fixed-back rear seat, help the 1LE drop about 60-pounds (27 kg) over the standard ZL1 Coupe.

Chevy said the new ZL1 1LE will reach dealers later this year, with pricing to be announced.

For months, it was thought that prototypes of the recently-revealed Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE were of the next Z/28. However, at the Daytona 500, Chevy proved us all wrong when it unveiled the high-performance 1LE package for the ZL1.

Fortunately, hopes of a Z/28 based around the sixth-generation Camaro are still very much alive and if the latest speculation proves correct, it could be worth the extended wait.

Car&Driver claims that the new Z/28, potentially arriving for the 2019 model year, will go one step beyond the ZL1 1LE and could feature a naturally-aspirated V8 engine delivering a dizzying 700 hp.

It is reported that this new engine, dubbed the LT6, will be joined by a new twin-turbo LT7 V8 when the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 launches. Although there’s a possibility the Z/28 could feature either of these two, the all-motor option is being favored. Whichever engine is selected, it will feature an aluminum block and head, four-valve combustion chambers, direct fuel injection, titanium connecting rods, a flat crankshaft and displace approximately 5.5-liters.

It is logical that the new Z/28 will also be lighter than the ZL1 1LE and adorned with even bolder bodywork to make it the ultimate Camaro track weapon.

It's enhanced using official Chevy performance parts solely offered in the US, with an adequate selection becoming available in Europe in the near future.

Powering it is a 6.2-liter V8 engine, which produces 453 PS (446 HP) and 617 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque, and works in conjunction with an 8-speed automatic transmission, with paddle shifters. The automaker is keeping performance numbers a secret for now.

Some of the cool features that can be found on the new muscle car include the Magnetic Ride Suspension, which lowers the ride height by 30 mm (1.2 in), an electronic limited-slip differential that is said to be segment-exclusive, dual-mode performance exhaust, and Brembo performance brakes.

Recognizing the new Chevrolet Track Concept is easy, as it's finished in a striking satin green, with unique gloss black hood and roof stripes. It also has an upgraded front splitter, side skirts, diffuser, and 3-piece rear spoiler, in addition to the black Chevrolet bowtie emblems, smoked taillights and 20-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, shod in 285/30 front and 305/30 rear tires.

Chevy's engineers have also fiddled with the interior, adding Recaro bucket seats, a suede flat-bottomed steering wheel, suede knee pads and center console arm rest, aluminum pedals, and special floor mats.

Honestly I don't see why the world would need a Z28 in addition to the ZL1 1LE. This is way more than a typical track pack and literally checks every box that made the Gen 5 Z28 unique.


I would really love to see a Z28 version of the C7. NA big block making between 550 and 600 HP, trick suspension, tons of cooling, full on aero package and say about 3100 pounds.

Chevrolet has unveiled the potent new Camaro GT4.R which will compete in this year’s Pirelli World Challenge and Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge alongside the likes of Ford, Mercedes-AMG, BMW, Porsche and McLaren.

The race-ready Camaro GT4.R is powered by an upgraded version of the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter LT1 V8 of the Camaro SS. Grunt is then fed through a sequential six-speed paddle-shift transmission and limited-slip differential driving the rear wheels and sourced from Xtrac.

As teasers of the vehicle hinted, the GT4.R gets some rather in-your-face bodywork. It includes a huge front grille and fascia very similar to the all-new Camaro ZL1 1LE as well as prominent canards on each side of the front bumper. Other distinctive touches include plastic windows, new side skirts, race-spec wheels and tires and most obvious of all, a soaring rear wing.

The car will enjoy its racing debut this weekend at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg where Blackdog Speed Shop will field two examples.
