It also only has 1 speaker for the seatbelt chim so its street legal, and the rear glass is super thin so it is lighter because racecar. I got to drive one, and it is amazing.... but they are like $140,000 haha!
Huh? The Z28 maxed out with options and accessories is around 78k.

I'd buy a GT350R over one anyday, although I respect Chevy for making it.

Too bad the visibility out of the camaro is terrible.

I've sat inside one. I like the seating position and I prefer the interior compared to the mustang. The visibility is pretty terrible though.

2016 Camaro SS Pumps Out Impressive 431hp On The Dyno

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo0FOHd29f8[/ame]

Quote:
When Ford launched the sixth-generation Mustang in late 2013, it was obvious that Chevy would have to bring out all the stops to compete with it.

The new Mustang didn't just usher in a refreshed design for the American muscle ca,r but also brought with it new engines and derivatives.

As the new Mustang has had an 18-month head-start on the 2016 Camaro, it is available in more forms, including the track-focused Shelby GT350R, itself created to outpace and outperform the fifth-gen Camaro Z/28.

Currently, the 2016 Camaro range is topped out by the SS and while not quite as powerful as the latest Shelby products, it actually appears to be more powerful than the standard 2014 Corvette Stingray.

Texas-based tuning company Hennessey Performance recently took delivery of a 2016 Camaro SS and swiftly strapped it onto their dyno. While the automaker claims the 6.2-litre V8 engine of the Camaro SS delivers 455 hp and 455 lb-ft at the crank, Hennessey's car put out 431 hp and 427 lb-ft at the rear wheels, equating to over 470 hp and 470 lb-ft when a 10 per cent drivetrain loss is factored in.

To put those figures into comparison, Hennessey's initial Corvette Stingray 'only' record 399 hp and 400 lb-ft on the dyno, despite being powered by the same V8 as the new Camaro SS.

Of course, a number of factors can influence dyno results including temperatures, fuel mixes and more. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see just how potent the 2016 car is fresh off the production line.

2016 Camaro SS Rockets Down The 1/4 Mile In 10.6 Seconds With Nitrous

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBuI3uvfb_Y[/ame]

Quote:
While American muscle cars have become much more capable on racetracks in the past decade or so, they haven't lost their key selling point; straight line speed. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS is the perfect example of this.

Compared to the fifth-generation Camaro SS, Chevrolet has improved the new car in a multitude of ways, particularly thanks to its all-new lightweight construction that aids massively in its improved handling.

Well aware of the fact that its customers also want vehicles to be capable on the drag strip, the new Camaro SS has been installed with a potent naturally-aspirated 6.2-litre V8 engine, the same as the Corvette Stingray. Just after seeing that this engine is more powerful than the 455 hp and 455 lb-ft Chevrolet claims, we now have an idea of just how quick the car is on the drag strip.

Recently, one newly delivered example recorded an incredible 10.602 second quarter mile time. Admittedly, it has been modified to include a tweaked ECU, drag radials and nitrous but even without the nitrous, managed to set an eye-brow raising 11.77.

Check Out This 2016 Camaro SS In Hyper Blue Metallic With A Body Kit

Quote:
Even though the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro doesn't look a lot different compared to the 2015 model, underneath all that metal, things couldn't be any more different.

The 2016 Camaro utilizes a brand new platform, weighs a lot less and is shorter, lower and narrower than the out-going car, which is something performance-oriented fans will certainly appreciate. Those who look close enough will certainly notice all the visual differences - we are looking at a sportier product, inside and out.

Of course, what's sportier than taking an already aggressive-looking car and fitting it with a body kit? Not a whole lot. We're talking front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and exhaust cutouts - subtle yet significant changes.

In terms of performance, we're looking at the SS version, which means that power is coming from a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine, good for 455 HP. This means you can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4 seconds flat and cover a 1/4 mile in 12.3 seconds if the car is equipped with the new 8-speed automatic transmission.

The 2016 Camaro SS is priced from $37,295 in the US, which makes it a direct rival for the Ford Mustang GT Fastback (5.0-liter V8, 435 HP, $32,395) and the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack (6.4-liter V8, 485 HP, $39,990).

While the Challenger should probably be removed from the equation if the customer wants his car to feel even the least bit agile, the Mustang GT might just have the upper hand here, with almost as much power and a significantly lower price compared to the Camaro SS. The downside is, it's not as quick in a straight line.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Priced From $33,695

Quote:
Chevrolet has confirmed that the convertible version of the new Camaro will be available for sale early next year, along with the new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder option. We now know how much extra you’ll have to pay for the Camaro Convertible over pricing for the coupe.

Cars Direct has managed to get its hands on ordering guides for the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, and they include the convertible. According to the guides, the least expensive drop-top is the Camaro Convertible 1LT equipped with the four-cylinder and it starts at $33,695. That represents a $1,495 increase on the starting price of the 2015 Camaro Convertible, which came with a V-6 engine. The least expensive 2016 Camaro Convertible equipped with a V-6 starts at $35,190, or $2,990 higher than last year.

If it’s V-8 power you lust, be prepared to pay as much as $44,295 for the Camaro 1SS Convertible, or $3,795 higher than last year. And if you go for the range-topping Camaro 2SS Convertible, you’re looking at a list price of $49,295. That’s as much as Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] charges for its Mustang Shelby GT350, and it's just a few grand shy of Porsche Boxster starting prices.

Below is the alleged pricing for the complete range along with engine output:

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible 1LT I-4: $33,695 - 275 hp and 295 lb-ft
2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible 2LT I-4: $37,795 - 275 hp and 295 lb-ft
2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible 1LT V-6: $35,190 - 335 hp and 284 lb-ft
2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible 2LT V-6: $39,290 - 335 hp and 284 lb-ft
2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible 1SS V-8: $44,295 - 455 hp and 455 lb-ft
2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible 2SS V-8: $49,295 - 455 hp and 455 lb-ft

Note, all prices mentioned include a $995 destination charge. The information is also based only on ordering guides and is yet to be confirmed by General Motors Company [NYSE:GM]. We’ll update the post once we hear back from GM.

The all-new, sixth-generation Camaro is a substantially improved car compared to its predecessor, and in many ways it’s a much better car than its Ford counterpart. It’s clear GM knows it has a hit on its hands which helps explains the increase in pricing across the range. For more on the Camaro, be sure to read our in-depth first drive report on the coupe.

Lingenfelter Already Working On Supercharged 2016 Camaro SS

Quote:
It may seem as if the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS was only released a few days ago, but already, one of American's leading tuning companies is working on a supercharger package for the muscle car.

Lingenfelter Performance has become synonymous for not just the wide array of tuning packages it offers but also the incredible car collection owned by its founder, Ken Lingenfelter. For the 2016 Camaro SS, they're in the midst of finalising a supercharger kit which bolts on to the 6.2-liter V8 engine of the car.

Lingenfelter will offer the package to customers in 624 hp, 700 hp and 750 hp states of tune with all utilising a TVS2300 blower supplied by Edelbrock. At this stage, no further details about the package are available meaning we don't yet know what other modifications will complement the supercharger.

No matter what those additional components are, the Lingenfelter Camaro SS should become the world's fastest following its release, likely capable of quarter mile times faster than this Nitrous-aided 10.6 second Camaro SS.

Arrow How is there no active thread on a 2016 Camaro SS?!

Similar to the twins, the new Camaro seems to have a good performance to price ratio... which puts it in a special category just like the BRZ.

I really would like to hear some thoughts and opinions on this car from the people who know what they are talking about on this forum.
