Dang you guys are tough critics...sniff sniff

So I take it if the FRS had a V8, you'd all be for it? LoL.

I think the 4cyl Camaro will be a contender vs our FRS with the "idkwtfafrsisbutitlooksfastandiwantit' crowd.

i don't get though why you laughed from the bold marked post section.

the 370z is true sports car unlike genesis or camaro v6 which are GT cars and is a good value for the money compared to camaro considering discounts, reliability, and warranty.
the genesis coupe is widely considered a good alternative to 370z if one is looking for more bells and wistles and better warranty for about the same price fully loaded as base 370z.
both can be considered a better value than the newly priced camaro v6 comparably loaded depending on what one is rather looking for sport or amenities. espcially considering camaro is the first year production and GM's consistenly high year-to-year recall record.
the exteriour looks are subjective, i personally don't particularly like either one with camaro specifically being cartoonish. the interior designs are subjective also, with camaro (to me) specifically looking like GM has tried hard but still lacking (kitsch vs art).
the performance should be about the same as genesis coupe, would like to read a comparo, better yet - test drive both. the genesis does have a crappy manual though.
for some korean made cars have 'cheap shit' stigma, for some others camaro has 'redneckmobile' stigma, but i could care less what others think and i'm not a brand whore.

but that's just MO

I actually seriously considered trading my FR-S in for a 2015 Camaro with the 1LE package, just so I could get one before the 2016s come out. I think the 1LE equipped cars are a hidden gem for performance vs. the money. I'm surprised they weren't more popular than they were. I've decided to get a truck as that is more practical for me right now. Otherwise, not really interested in the new Camaro unless they revive the 1LE package in the future.

From what I understand, one reason they weren't popular is because of the harsh/stiff ride on the street. The 1LE is an actual track package (unlike Ford's "track-pack"). Given most owners won't track the car, they probably didn't want to pay extra for something that made it less comfortable. I agree with you though, was a great performance value.

You are probably correct and I also think it has to do with the fact GM didn't seem to promote them very much. Most people, even some dealers, ask "what's a 1LE?" when you inquire about them.

MT did an instrumented test of the 2016 Camaro SS:

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...t-test-review/

The numbers look good:

0-60: 4.0 s
1/4: 12.4 s @ 114.6 mph
60-0: 104 ft
skidpad: 1.00 g
figure 8: 24.1 s @ 0.85 g

curb weight: 3,672 lbs (54/46)

If that curb weight is correct, that puts it at 214 lbs less than the last Camaro SS they tested. Not bad. Good to see a manufacturer actually deliver on their predicted weight loss (although it's still 900+ lbs heavier than an FR-S).

2016 Chevrolet Camaro

I maybe late but just got wind of this. Apparently the new model is lighter with improvements to increase handling. They are even offering a 2L turbo. Hmmmm.

Haha, really old news to me. I work for a GM dealer :p

They only made it a few hundred pounds lighter and if I remeber that is with the 2.0L option. It is going to compete with the mustang eco boost. People always bash on camaros for not handling (and they don't ), yet the Z28 camaro is faster around Nürburgring then a nissan GTR. (right from a GM training video) but it is equip with a 7.0L na V8 and GM's magnetic ride control. It also only has 1 speaker for the seatbelt chim so its street legal, and the rear glass is super thin so it is lighter because racecar. I got to drive one, and it is amazing.... but they are like $140,000 haha!

They started at 75-80k when they first came out, but are now down to about $60k since they have been on the dealership floor too long. Few people want to buy a dedicated track car, but it is an awesome machine.

I think you are thinking about the ZL1 camaro. That is the supercharged one that most people buy because you can get AC in them and its a streetable car.

No, I'm not. The ZL1's start in the 50's or low 60's, and have been the better seller because they are the more streetable car as you have said. Fifth gen inventory is being fire-saled right now. Here's a Z28 for $67k local to me. Sticker is $76k, right about what I had said for new. Camaro5.com members have reported seeing them as low as $59-60k depending on how long they have sat at the dealership.

(that one includes the optional A/C)
