Avant-guard LOL. When was Scion ever avant-garde??? And you mention "excitement" as being a word to describe Scion. Other than body styles being a little odd or different what was ever exciting about them?? I mean take off the body panels and you have a generic front engine fwd 4 cylinder snooze-fest of a car to go get groceries in. Is there another Scion I'm not aware of?

"Head-turning" hahahahaha

The FR-S is the exception of course.

I am just disappointed. That frown on the front fascia is well-deserved.
Wow I didn't realize that IT IS a Mazda 2 with a Scion badge. I thought they were just basing it in the Mazda 2 (not a bad thing...but this?!) WTF.

Your second picture is a Mazda 3.

The Mazda 2 is a lot worse. Imagine this thing with a Scion badge.

Seriously, WTF is wrong with Toyota these days.

"We want to build a lightweight sports car!" Everything underneath is a Subaru.
"We want to make a better sports car!" Better call BMW.
"Let's make a new Scion!" Hey Mazda, can you help us?

Has their decades of bland lineup finally leached all imagination out of their designers? What happened to the company that decided on a whim to enter Formula 1? Or any number of other racing series they've participated in? Now they can't even make a Corolla without outside help.

Garage
There's this thing called economics. Ohh yes, also profitability. To the OP, Scion apologizes that their entire line wasn't designed with you as their target customer. My daughter on the other hand would probably love one of these as her first (safe) new car.

Some people are so narcissistic.

BTW although I'm not a fan of Mazda I do think they're pretty good at entry level cars, which this is. Its interesting that it will be Toyota in Canada. Too bad they didn't do that with the FR-S just to piss off American brand snobs

That would have been hilarious! People would still be screaming about it today.

Have no fear, my brand snobbery will remain intact.

I bought my daughter a Mazda 3; Mazda really does make solid cars. My wife is already looking into wheels and tires for it. I haven't even done wheels and tires on my car yet.

My son in law is an avid Mazda fan and will probably always have one. He currently is all practical with a Mazda 5 but at least he got the MT. The things is surprisingly fast on the take off due to the low end torque it seems to have but corners will scare the crap out of you at anything greater than dead slow.
