I've heard it's a real pain and wonder if it might not be easier to remove the assembly.

Hey! Welcome to the loony bin!

Another member has posted that he's done it with great difficulty. I personally took one look and didn't even try after seeing all the metal in the way.

Finally pulled the spring and my back feels like a twisted pretzel. I do think that the clutch has gotten stiffer when pushing it down, but feedback on uptake is better. I'm not 100% content, but definitely going in the right direction. I'm gonna drive it around a while and see how I like it. If it needs more work, clutch slave mod here I come.

I don't think this has been discussed, has anyone considered the increased wear of having constant pressure on the clutch. I know it's not much pressure, but it's always there.

Fantastic mod, BTW.

No, only if the adjustment is fucked.

Just did this after 2 years and now it's finally a car again. Been driving stick since I started driving and I couldn't get this car to stop being jerky. I love the new clutch feel, but I'll admit I'm not a fan of the mushy feel before pressing in.

I just wandered back here and realized I could have been <cough> a bit clearer. I explain the critical adjustment in this post.

Did this in about 15 minutes... NIGHT AND DAY difference (even for a first time manual driver). All my shifts are butter smooth and upshifts are epic.

Even if the adjustment was done incorrectly the clutch will still be completely released, well almost completely. The springs tension seems to be akin to lightly resting a foot pedal at all times. It wont cause damage short term, but it will wear the release bearing a little faster, and could wear the engines thrust bearings a little faster.

I think we're on the same page but I'm not sure what you meant here. Are you saying the installed helper spring pushes down the pedal at all times?
