Has anyone ever noticed if you hold the gear half way through your shift it will grind if it just hangs there in the middle of say 2nd and 3rd (or 1st and 2nd doesn't matter just an example). Is it like this on all MT vehicles or is that something to do with the tripple cone whateverness? ....man first gen cars are fun owning its a fckin roller coaster ride for sure

at high RPM shifting from 3rd to 4th quickly i get a little crunch as it goes into 4th, just enough that you feel it through the gear stick, like the synchros arent fast enough or something.. does anyone else get this?

I get a small cruch when down shifting 6th to 5th at relatively high speeds, if I put the gear in the 5th gate quickly.

But if I do it slowly it is fine

I get a click/tick/pop every time I shift it happens when I release the clutch and use the gas. It will also do it at 3000 RPM coasting then when i accelerate again I hear this CLICK. It even does it in reverse. feels like it happens when the gear is engaged.

I have an FR-S Manual... All Gears are perfect, except the 4th Gear.
When I put 4th Gear at close to 7K RPM, I feel that 4th Gear like little crunch. Another Gears enter without problem. I dont know if is the Sync of that 4th gear. In addition, I Feel mi clutch pedal too depressed; the clutch works too close to the floor. What do you think about that?

Why not adjust the clutch before the gearbox gets damaged?

i think it happens with most mt cars... the I noticed that with the FRS it is very sensitive on that. i shifted from 2nd to 3rd once and the gears where grinding for no reason. and the clutch was fully engaged. i had it checked out at the dealership but it happens time to time

I get a crunch on the 2-3 shift that ranges from mild to downright nasty. Metal to metal kind of nasty. Like a sharp a pain in the neck that stops you in your tracks. This is in normal driving. I shift slow but not too slow, anywhere between 2-4k. There's no audible noise but the feeling is just bad..

Sometimes it's butter smooth, sometimes I feel a lovely gentle rustle when things fall into place.

I just don't understand this inconsistency when I do everything to make my shifting as consistent as possible..

This is exactly how I feel. Some time butter smooth, but sometime crunchy.

And I also get the second gear crunch that everyone is talking about. very...crunchy... some say it's normal, yet a lot of people still complains... not sure if it's normal or not anymore...

I'm planing to try change out the fluid when I get some more miles on it, and see if it really makes a difference.

Mine was only a problem 1-2. That has improved with 9000km on the clock so that when cold I change 1-2 slowly and it's fine. Once it's warmed up it's the same as the others, perfect!
I bought some 75w-90 fully synthetic but haven't changed it because it's so much improved.

The more miles I put on this car.. The smoother the tranny gets when shifting.. I had the same issues with my C6. It took several thousand miles before it broke in and smoothed out.

Same here, the gearbox is butter when she's warmed up and I''m at 7800mi. I just double clutch when she's cold and shift slow.
