I'd rock this for the trip, the x300 is real easy to work on.

I'm up for this as long as the schedule/option is chosen a couple months in advance for me to request vacation time for work. I think option 3 would be the most fun as rally cross is more exciting than autox. We need to have a videographer do the whole thing so we can post it up like an episode of top gear.

If we can set a time frame on the later end of summer, I can most likely do it. Once I get to Vegas, I will rendezvous with my family vaca which is planned for around that time and fly home.

So lets say my car dies mid way, I sign the title and put it on the windshield, what if some dipshit decides to go run over some kids with the car that has my title on it, does the responsibility come back to me?

saw a news story a while back where people buy used cars, never sign the title, then they repost the car for sale with a bunch of fraudulent service information at a higher price. they sell it for cash, and their name is never put into the paper trail. obviously not as bad as committing crimes in the vehicle, but it's pretty much allowing room for bad stuff to happen when the new owner doesn't transfer ownership.

We definitely need to prepare the phone numbers of all the salvage yards and tow companies along the way. Phone numbers and their hours.

Another idea in such situation is to make the car useless to anyone but a salvage yard... like, cut a hole in the frame, or unbolt a subframe etc.

Yes I agree, rallycross will be the most fun. there are a few points to consider though. Our cars will be less likely to pass tech and far more likely to break than on an autocross. That option will also extend the driving distance of the trip by a bit.

A very good point, we should definitely ensure the car is either scrapped or un-drivable before leaving like @ipsum said, removing the sparkplugs and pouring some saltwater into each cylinder is probably a good bet.

It's been a while since I've looked closely at a more recent Oregon title. The old ones looked like this

with room for three independent reassignments. Basically it gave free reign to title jump until the back of the title was filled up. I was hoping to use this for the road trip but unfortunately current titles no longer allow it.

Here's another idea: how about we plan some of the route through gravel/dirt roads? Nothing too crazy, but fun. Can have points/challenges associated with that leg of the route.

Good idea. We could stay local and just go up into the mountains a little. There a gravel trail up on a road by Mt. Adams and more to the SW of Portland. Can't remember where exactly off the top of my head.

No risk no reward right? The reward would be a toughening experience however and not a financial one.

Can do both.

First go do a rally run locally. Can do it over a weekend and camp in the woods overnight.

Then the Vegas trip. But should give a couple weeks in between for repairs.
