I haven't bought anything for it yet. I figure I shouldn't be putting more money into a car I still don't own. It's hard to try and be responsible, but I think I'm doing it right.

Everyone else- thanks for the insight and thoughts, I'll definitely be thorough and nitpick-y here.

Ugh, this kills me to see a Series.Blue damaged. I love the extras this version comes with and personally dig that the car is one of only 1000 made. I would fight tooth and nail for it, but that just me. I feel for you though, my past car was hit three times in the span of two years (once by a tow truck) and it was nothing but a nightmare. People need to learn how to drive. Good luck!

He can always get another one if he wants, its' not like they're hard to find. I'm sure everyone agrees, no one wants a car back with previous frame damage.

I agree, frame damage is the last thing you want.

That depends on what state you're in. If the state uses percentages, the percentage ranges from 50% (Iowa) to 100% (Texas). The way it usually works is that the insurance company MUST total the car if it exceeds the loss threshold set by the state, but they MAY total it at less than that percentage if they'll recoup more from the salvage vehicle and you agree to it. Usually they won't recoup the loss below that threshold, so usually they stick to the percentage.

The states that don't use percentages use the Total Loss Formula, which totals the car if:

Cost of Repair + Salvage Value > Actual Cash Value

Virginia does just happen to be a 75% state, but that's really only coincidence.

That's not true. The reason they total it at 50%, 60%, 70%, 75%, 80% or 100% is because the state insurance regulations require it.

Poor blue series!

I had someone hit my Rx-7 while my brother was driving, Although, I was surprised it wasn't considered totalled... I sort of wished it did. The car was just never the same after the repairs. I was an realiable rotary daily driver but after the accident I had to call AAA at least once a month if it was driven often.

Now there's frame damage.
"it's not bent, it's dented"

It's also going to take over a month to be done, so I'll be Car-less for a couple weeks.

Such a shame. What a perfectly modded rx7.

Let them total it and buy it back for pennies, take that big fat insurance check and do what you want with it.

That's what he should be asking the adjuster. If the adjuster can't describe the difference, then we have a problem.

Really is a big shame, this rx7 was my little brother's dream car, had the exact mods and wheels he planned on getting. So we both worked hard to buy the car... Then after 4 months of ownership, some lady assuming no one was going straight made a quick left turn.
