Or one faulty valve that threw off the other when it failed.

It's really just a guessing game from here as well. I'm curious to know if I save the same problem as Whiteout-frs, and I'm itching to find out this weekend.

I get another drive with my friend's FR-S AT. If I put the car in Neutral, rev the engine up and let it settle, rpm can go to 500 ~ 600. I tried a couple of times, it always does that. But I don't feel particular engine vibration as if it is about to die. If I pull to D from 600 rpm, with brake pressed, the rev drops to about 400 as the engine takes the load and quickly goes up to about 600 ~ 700.
BTW, the fuel is about 50/50 mix of dealer fuel and shell 92. |

Other members on a separate thread are reporting factory oil levels that are significantly overfilled (per their measurement). Anyone having idle/rpm issues should check their oil level. Id be surprised if there is a correlation but stranger things have happened. Also I was wondering if the oil is way overfilled if that could somehow affect the cam timing mechanism?

Fuji Heavy Industries apparently doesn't care about overfilling, little moisture and panel fitment..

Could overfilled oil cause issues with cam timing since it controlled with oil pressure? sorry to get off topic.

As for STI or WRX is different story. GOD, those things get so much hiccups. I've never driven any STI or WRX that didn't have hiccups. As for my Impreza (RS), I have never have hiccups. Of course, it has a lot of mods to make it hiccup free, but when I'm at the stop light, my RPM never moves. Quote:
Maybe it is overfilled oil... maybe not. We'll wait & see other member's report on the cause of this idle problem |

Because the people at the dealer who do PDI don't give a shit. They dont check half the stuff they are supposed to.
