Auto launch blows!

So today was the maiden voyage of my auto frs in autocross. With nannies with out nannies you can't put in the brake and rev higher then 2k. So no smoking the tires at the gate no matter how much you want to. Is this a mechanical limit? A computer limit? My auto tc I could rev as high as I wanted and launch. I was a little disappointed.

yea its their SST safety feature where if the brakes and the gas pedals are pressed at the same time it reduces power to the engine

That blows. Can this be disabled? A fuse maybe. I can see this impacting left foot braking on the track and in autox.

Try pressing the brake first, before the accelerator.

From the Scion website:

"The feature doesn't engage if the brake pedal is depressed before the accelerator pedal."

Oh we did that. I put the brake in first then gas. It keeps the revs at 2k.

Sounds to me like the torque converter just has a 2k rpm stall speed with stock torque levels.

hmm... not sure.. It does have this though... http://www.toyota.com/safety/star-sa...echnology.html

As an added measure of safety, Toyota created the braking system enhancement known as Smart Stop Technology. This advanced technology automatically reduces engine power when both pedals are pressed at the same time under certain conditions.
Smart Stop Technology intervenes when the accelerator is depressed first (Figure 1) and the brakes are applied firmly for longer than one-half second at speeds greater than five miles per hour. (Figure 2)
In normal driving conditions, you won’t notice Smart Stop Technology as it is imperceptible. The feature doesn’t engage if the brake pedal is depressed before the accelerator pedal. This allows for vehicles starting on a steep hill to safely accelerate without rolling backward (known as hill start).
Toyota has installed Smart Stop Technology in all its new models since the beginning of 2011, making it one of the first full-line manufacturers to offer this braking technology as standard equipment.

Not sure if this does anything when the Trac and VSC is both off.

No offense but my Tc was a auto. I could brake torque the shit out of it. put it in 2nd and it would stay there and bang off the rev limiter. I should have tried more in the test drive.

Not all of us are lucky enough to be able to purchase manual.

Why would I take offense to the fact that you used to own an automatic TC? I just think it's odd that you bought a car that you want to do X and Y with, but the transmission it comes with is designed for A and B (or A to B?).

Only one reason I can think of that's a legitimate reason for not buying the car that's right for you - some sort of physical handicap?

I autocrossed my auto tc for years and was able to launch it just fine from a start. I picked paddle shift because time and time again I see people missing shifts on turn arounds and sections where they were not quick enough or the car was fighting them. This is not a mt vs at debate. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm fighting something in the programming or mechanically.
