And you're right. That's the reason I never look at the speedo, it's never moving to where my eyes are (the tach). Agreed with you on the oil pressure gauge if nothing else.

Oh and an update on the tires; finally broke them loose today

Porsche does the exact same setup. Huge tach in the middle, analog speedo off to the side, and a digital speedo in the middle of the tach. Just by far the easiest way to keep track of the two.

I feel like an analog speedo is kinda redundant and stupid if you have a digital one sitting in a spot where your eyes are more likely to go to... Those cars with HUD speedos for example, I think most drivers end up never looking at the dash since the speed is right on the windshield.

Its such a small thing that would have made such a big difference. I just can't imagine something better would have really made a difference cost-wise.

I agree with everything you said. As for the tires, I'm on the fence as well, I really do like the increase mileage and performance has been great so far.

Yup, it's a great car and I'm lovin mine. I still am getting a feel for the Clutch, sometimes I feel like 8mph is my bane. When Im coming to a stop and the light changes from red to green, it can grind if it goes into first (happened once) and it lugs if I put it into second.

LOL, you've missed a feature then that shows this car is 2012... If you hit the voice command and ask "Time" then the sat nav will give you the time. So, you don't have to look at that 1990's clock because the 2012 technology will tell you the time!

So after 1000+ miles of driving I thought I'd add to this...

Lack of an Armrest: I'm positive MANY people will agree with me that they were very upset when the pre-production pictures came out and there was no arm rest...and then the production model came out and still no stinkin' armrest. What gives? I very well may be in the minority here but I've really come to realize that I've never actually missed the arm rest in those last 1000 miles. I've almost always driven this car at a comfortable, ready for fast turns, 9 and 3 position. It feels weird to not drive like that now.

Battery Location: Any track day hooligan will tell you that although the BRZ has a good battery placement, it's not great. It SHOULD be in the trunk, that would reduce the weight up front by 35 pounds. Not even gonna get into the need to run wiring to the back of the car...I'm just gonna say I'm glad they put the battery where they did. If they put it in the back I really don't think we would ever be able to fit a set of track wheels/tires there. This is a car meant for daily driving, not to be a full out race car. It needs to be practical and Subaru managed to make the battery location as sporting as possible while still letting you have the option to take your car grocery shopping....or pick up some sweet Enkei wheels you just scored off craigslist for $150

I don't find myself desperately needing an arm rest but I would still like one.

I'm with you on this one. I would like the armrest for additional storage, but I've not missed having an "arm rest". I drive at 3 and 9 99% of the time. If I want to sit my arm down it works fine on top of the e-brake handle, and is actually pretty comfortable.

Based on the existing weight distribution and the location of the battery in relationship to the CG, moving the battery to the trunk could possibly have a more negative impact on weight distribution than not. It is sitting closer to a "neutral" position now than it would in the trunk.

At first I was upset with the lack of a center armrest, but after a few weeks I don't even notice it anymore. Although the lack of storage is still an issue.
