As stated, the BRZ changed a lot last year, biggest updates were the built engine with the help of a HKS stroker kit, and Vcams, we also fitted HKS injectors, and V2 supercharger kit.
For those not familiar with the HKS stroker kit, it is composed of Forged pistons, forged rods, forged crankshaft, everything works together to increase the stroke of the engine, therefor pushing the capacity to 2.1L. The engine is also fitted with HKS Vcams to accommodate the new stroke, and offer a better output as well. We also used HKS 1mm head gasket to lower a litle bit the CR. Aside from that, every single moving part in the engine has been changed. New srpings, valves have been treated, new oil pump assembly, and tweak of the pump to insure a stronger pressure. It was a lot of work, but it was totally worth it ! Here are the HKS parts: The monstruous Crankshaft The intake and exhaust Vcams The Pistons And rods (they are actualy fractured on the pictures gives you and idea of the quality) https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-H..._Drag_0001.jpg Here is the build process The different elements on the bench Opening and pre-fitement of the rods on the crank The pistons in place: Heads with new springs And short block closed: The process took a month and a half, we had to wait some time to recieve all the new parts, oil pump assembly was the hardest to get. Then everything went back in the shell, and they started to upgrade my V1 HKS superchager with the new pipes, inter-cooler, and we got rid of the restrictor. As we moved everything out, I decided to upgrade all the bushings and mounts (engine, transmition, diff, subframe , rear-subframe) with STi parts After being properly broken-in, we putted the car on the dyno for the final settings, and after more than 30 pulls To explain the results, Dynapack is well known to read low, my car didn't have cancer stock, its just the way it is, what is important is the delta, the progression, and mind you it is just insane. The car is now 366 whp , considering it was dynoed 145 whp stock, and 27 lb/ft (40 kg/m) of torque at the wheels. It is a monster, the chassis mods made it even more focused and precise ... I just adore it, its monstrously good. Sadly, being winter here, I can't really go bonkers, but as soon as the weather will be a litle more forgiving, trust me i'll upload some videos. I really want to thank Chiba-san the boss of SCREEN here in Japan, for the patience, passion, advises he offers me through the development of my car Last edited by HaDDeS; 01-20-2015 at 08:22 AM. |

Not knocking on the shops that we have here in North America by any means but I just love the culture of passion and workmanship available at tuning garages in Japan.

That said, you have to be careful on stock internals, the stock oil is way to thin to maintain a proper lubrication at high revs / temperatures, and some parts will suffer fast, rod bearings for example. We had a very bad surprise when we opened the block, two of my bearings were ... dead basically, so it was about time. If you go for the HKS kit, don't boost too much (7-8psi max), and you have to install a oil pressure, temp, and boost gauge. If you have the possibility, I would strongly recommend a full build, with forged internals, and revising of the oil pump, baffled pan ... to make sure the engine won't suffer of any form of oil starvation / lack of efficient lubrication. Once boosted, HKS recommends 10w50 grade oil ... anything lower won't be enough. But obviously this way over stock spec of the engine ... on stock internals. Also, under high boost (15 psi and over) , stock rods have a "tendency" to bend, but they were not designed for that ... My BRZ is now getting 15psi of boost at max, and the supercharger is unrestricted. Last edited by HaDDeS; 01-21-2015 at 06:55 AM. |

Amazing build! I have a V2 SC with the Delicious tune (still not final) with stock internals though and HKS injectors and 43 mm restrictor. Max boost is 11 psi. Now thinking what oil to use. 10w50 seems a bit too extreme given the stock recommendation 0w20. So I'm choosing between Motul 5w30 and 5w40...
Even now with 0w20 oil I don't see critical oil pressure drop (Defi gauges installed). However, it's winter now with tempratures below zero, so I can't push the car really hard - not enough grip + I have an oil cooler. |

Still, this HKS SC is a wonderfull solution, and if you have a chance I can just really encourage you to go for the Stroker kit + cams, its mental. |

In my case, it is function over form, anytime, yet I like to have a bit of style ... that's what i tried to achieve here. Not saying its a sleeper, but its certainly not outrageous ... yes yes i know it has yellow calipers, and white wheels
I like the fact it doesn't look at all, as mean as it sounds and goes ... |
