Rear Seat Mods

Besides a sub box that ive seen, has anyone decided to utilize their back seats to integrate other mods? Like a flip storage or luggage? Right now my back seat is just used for my car cover. Clean as possible, of course.

Yes.

Search for "seat delete." There are options ranging from DIYs all the way up to a carbon fiber seat delete running hundreds of dollars. A lot of people have done this.

Here, Google is your friend:

I always liked the SUBARU PRIVACY COVER (Japan Parts #484-010-007) SUBARU # J5017CA300 but found it a bit expensive when you have to take shipping into account. I was going to see if I can figure out a DIY project this summer that would be similar.

This may be more what I am looking for. I would also consider adding a middle speaker in the back, similar to ford gt/viper look. I really dont need the seats to fold down.

That is more a perk for me than anything. Theyre useless as hell and i would have paid more(ins) for something more innovative or modern. My insurance price is very decent considering how far my daily drives are for work.

I dont necessarily want to get rid of the seats altogether. More like a retromod or something that can be reverted back if needed.

Did you look at any of them? It usually involves unbolting the seats, removing them, installing the delete kit, bolting it in. 20 minutes, tops. If you need to revert back, reverse the installation instructions. Some of them provide storage compartments where the seat pads used to be, but since there's no foam taking up room, you have additional storage space than just the empty pocket formed when the rear seat is down.

I have this and it's great! can use rear as storage for stuff like backpack, briefcase, gym bag, pr0n... all without anyone being able to see it! it's decently made, and requires the installation of 4 anchors which the cover latches to via elastic bands.

Where did you get yours from? Or would you be willing to post some pictures of the latches/anchors for some of us to try doing a DIY project?

There is a rear armrest for the back seats. Maybe get that and then build and upright piece that can house your speakers in the center.

I keep thinking about borrowing my friends rx7 bins that are behind the seat to see what it would take to modify them into a twin. They are fiberglass and carpet so they are really light and way more useful than rear seats.

Car's in the body shop, so I won't be able to take any pics, sorry.

But it's pretty simple. just a buckle that hooks to 3rd brake light, velcro that seals the edge to the rear deck, a knob near the corner that's installed into the speaker plastic trim with elastic to hold the upper corner, and another knob near the speaker hole with elastic to hodl the middle. the rest the rest just drapes down.

You can see how it's installed in the japanparts pics.
