I love in California. And you can't touch a Brz limited out here for less than 23k. Even a high mileage 2013.

I have found multitudes of these models for about 20k out of state and I fee it worth a trip to get one for a good price. California seems to have some of the highest prices for the frs and Brz.

Where I'm looking is about 500-600 miles away and that's about what I did to pick up my genesis as far as distance goes.

Plus I'm only looking for two colors.

World rally blue and satin white pearl but leaning strongly on the blue. So it's extra hard to find a really aggressive deal

In addition, there's the discomfort/stress of driving with mechanical issues, concern for your car getting you from a to b without dying, and time consumed maintaining it.

I say this having just paid a couple thousand in repairs on my jeep with 68k miles, both diy and at the shop, as well as putting up with some awful annoyances in the meantime. I was kicking myself for not selling it a little sooner and having 2 thousand more to spend on my BRZ.
All the maintenance done on the car has been by me since brand new and all of it preventative/routine maintenance (the E46 BMWs are easy to work on). I've never had a breakdown or been stranded, never even had a check engine light! The only thing to go wrong has been two window regulators - that's it.

I've got a 120 mile round trip commute so I've got to have a reliable car.

Over the 11 years I've owned it I'm sure I've put a couple thousand into it, maybe more (haven't totaled it). At the same time, it's been paid off, I haven't had a car payment for seven or eight years. That's the biggest reason for owning it so long. Well, that, and the fact that it is such a wonderful handling car, the steering has a great feel to it. When I test drive possible replacements I come away disappointed. The BRZ has a great steering feel and driving position so that is on my short list.

I would have spent much less over the years owning an Accord but I'd have gone crazy driving an appliance.
